well....eagerly awaiting to see what Bernat has in store for us tomorrow.....

I took this week off doing any progress on my project because I just cannot decide what arrangement I will use. I am not thrilled with the official layout so I've been playing around with other possibilities. I decided I will wait to see what the border is going to look like and then make a final decision. :scared:

I need more yarn anyway, so I'm impatiently waiting to see what happens! This could completely change the direction I take with this! Hoping to be :knit: soon

I want to share a personal story about sisters, friends and the spirit of crocheters. My sister and I and 2 friends began the CAL together. Into the second clue my sister suddenly became ill, she was in ICU for over 3 weeks and we lost her on March 30th. Our two CAL buddies made our Clues for us during this time so we would not get behind. I am going to try to finish Clue 6 myself. I will sew our afghans together and our friends will help with the border. This is to be my sister's last afghan. There is no way to repay our friends but to give them our afghans when they are finished.

Oh my goodness, I am so so sorry to hear about your sister. You and your family will be in my prayers. What a touching story though about friendship the way your friends helped carry you along during your sister's illness. Hugs to you.

So here we are, the morning of the final clue (?). I have enjoyed looking at everyone's progress on the spoiler page, I am behind though so any photos of my CAL will be a long time coming. Being a slightly inexperienced crocheter, I am seaming the way that felt the best to me which is slip-stiching the sides together. I have 2 rows seamed and am feeling a bit like the tortoise in the Tortoise and the Hare story. Slow and steady though right?

Thanks for sharing Kinda, What a lovely story. Hold on to that! In times of grief and despair you can look back and remember that you shared a special bond. As for your friends, what a wonderful gesture! It is so terribly hard to find good friends these days and to think they came together for you in such a stressful time. My prayers are with you and your family.

You might want to check out the edging in this pattern.
Looks like you should be making some decreases too.

Oh My! I remember that afghan. I've been buying Woman's Day for a long time. (It seems like it might have been on the cover, but can't remember exactly) I thought it was so beautiful, that I tore that page out as one of the things I wanted to do someday. At the time, since it was purchased as a kit, I never could afford it, so it just stayed in my collection of "Someday Projects!"

Thank you for posting it. It just may be my summer project! :cloud9:

And the funny thing is that I was thinking that a border made up of a row of each of the blanket colors either in single or double crochet, with a final row of the main (or contrast) color in reverse single crochet would be a really nice border for this CAL (Or a row of double crocket and then shells along the edge, to kind of repeat the overall theme of the blanket). I have to play with my borders sometimes to see what seems to work best with the overall appearance of the blanket.
