Had I known the layout to begin with I probably would have made the smaller flowers match the clue 1 color in the middle of the bigger flowers, but I still like how it turned out :)

This is beautiful! I love your colours. This would match my livingroom perfectly! :inlove: I really like the ones with more than one colour in the motifs....I thought you guys were being risky a few weeks ago, but now I can see that it has really paid off!

He's 7 and this afghan is for him. I had to change the flowers, so it wouldn't look to girlie. He loves it and can't wait for it to be finished so he can take it home. He picked out the colors and I think he did a good job. :cloud9: Image

Very, very Nice! I bet he Will love it for years and it Will give him many happy memories. He did an excellent job of choosing bright, primary colours and you have found the perfect layout for them.

I have loved making all the motifs. I waited (not always patiently) every Wednesday for the next clue. I truly enjoyed reading the posts. There have been rainy & sunny days (today I have snow :o ). New puppies to play with and kitties to peak out from under our work. We have endured the loss of our dear family members and received solace from the CAL members. You are a special group of people.

And while we all may not like the final layout, several have shared their ideas of how their afghans will look. For myself, I am not a flowery person, but I do like the layout when using darker colors for the MC. You all do beautiful work. All the photos throughout the CAL have been helpful. Special thanks to dsgel, kathieh & tjwjlove for their layout pics. :notworthy: My guys liked those the best and I will borrow one of those layouts (if I may) for my blanket. On to seaming (dear hubby wants afghan off the floor) and then the border. Keep on hooking!

If I had more time, I was going to do all the edges in the Dark Blue (it would have made the motifs stand out more). I have enjoyed to the Cal. Everyone comes up with such great ideas. I have learned a lot just looking and reading all the post. I will be doing more Cals. I don't think you need to do it exactly as it is should be. Just have fun. Life is to short to let a design or color yarn make you mad. I have been crocheting for 30 years. I enjoy my time with a yarn and a hook. I truly hope everyone just has fun with it.

zhanie wrote:awe thank you tjwjlove! :) I am going to make a cable blanket in Bernat chunky for my cousin in Wales. I thought a neutral blanket in one colour may be a good choice for someone in her twenties. :cloud9:
I am enjoying all the different posted pictures in this thread. They are so different, and very pretty :cloud9:
I can't wait to see that one. I think neutral colors will be perfect. It goes with everything. I'm sure they will love it. :bravo:

Here’s my seemed afghan. I kind of wish I had moved the colours around a little, as I don’t like the green flower, but I think it will look fantastic with the colours in my livingroom. I’m going to see what else I can do for the border. I think sc is kind of boring and anticlimactic.

sonoma wrote:For the 2012 CAL I made a baby blanket using the first three clues. I used Bernat Softee Baby in Soft Lilac and Bernat Baby Coordinates in Soft Mauve for a monochromatic blanket. When it came to assembling it, I decided to use a braid stitch in white for a bit of contrast. As far as edging rounds, that has yet to be decided. Maybe white with a row of Soft Lilac in it.

Since I made two afghans in the 2010 CAL, there was no need to make a full-size afghan in this CAL. This shows one of my 2010 CAL afghans + pillow with the 2012 CAL baby blanket.

I really love your afghan. Very pretty

daverett wrote:Okay, here's my layout; I've still not quite decided about how Clue 5 turned out. I may go back and re-do them so that just the first two rows are contrasting colors and the rest of the rows are MC; I think that may fit in better with the rest of the blanket.

This is the best one I have seen yet! I wish I would have thought to change colors like you did. It is much prettier this way!
