Fantastic work so far! :notworthy: (I am not done seaming... yet. I'm close.) :scared:

I too am looking for something more interesting than a sc border. I think this blanket is so airy-fairy that it deserves something a little bit lacey for the border.

I'm not sure how I'm going to pull it off as they will need some creative adjusting, but I'm thinking one of these options:

Block edging
http://www.crochetspot.com/how-to-crochet-block-edging/

Or just the first two rows (the "ladder" bit at the top of the picture) of this one
http://crochet.about.com/library/weekly/aa101505.htm

I have NO IDEA what colour to use! Cripes! My original plan was to take my clue 6 colour and clue 4 colour and use those to make the border really pop! That is out the window now.

Best thing is to pretend it's not there!

Seriously.....I have no idea! All my efforts over the years have been pretty futile. Sometimes washing it with fabric softner helps loosen the bond between the cat hair and the yarn. Then put it in a dryer with no heat and a dryer sheet..... but it's not like you can brush it off or anything. :idonno:

OK, my Mom passed away after a short illness and I have used this CAL to pass the time while I stayed at a very special cousins house. I stayed there while staying in Syracuse visiting my Mom during her final days. I started the first clue when she went into the hospital and then into the nursing home. It gave my cousin and my Mom something to look forward to each week as I downloaded the clues and worked on it at the house and in my Mom's room. She talked about it with everyone that visited! She did not get to see the finished product, how sad. But it passed the time and united us in it's mystery, what would it look like? So we are now at the end of the afghan and at the end of my Mom's incredible life, that was evident to all that attended her funeral, what a special lady she was!! This afghan will always bring me memories of my Mom's final days and the adventure I had staying and re-uniting with a cousin that was such a good friend of mine when I was younger and saying goodbye to my Mom!
Thank you!!

There really isn't a way to get it out. I sometimes take scissors and cut out the long pieces, but really other than washing it a million times hoping it finally comes out is your only option. Most people that you know will understand that you have animals and not care at all that there is hair in their blanket. If you are donating it to a church or the homeless, they will simply be greatful for the extra warmth. And honestly most people won't even notice the hair unless you point it out. You only see it because you know it is there!

So sorry to hear about your mom, but glad that you've made a good memory of time spent with her.

Very true! A homeless family will be happy to have an afghan to keep them warm period. Thank you :cloud9:

Here's my finished project with the official edging. I'm considering a couple of different options for the edge, though; I think I'll try adding some color. Hey, if I don't like it at least I can frog it back to this point, right?

I posted my finished afghan on my fb account, this is the first time any one there saw what I have been doing for the last few months. Other than my husband and daughter no one I knew I was making this.
The compliments I am getting are very reassuring. I am thinking we all got too close to this thing and that could be why we are not loving the end result. I had one person tell me how beautiful it is, another how great it looks. I really don't love it, but their comments are helping me! I still plan on putting this in our 'future mystery event need a gift box' so I can pull it out when needed, but at least I won't feel it is being passed on just to get it out of my home! And since I paid full price ($4.29 CAD) for this afghan's yarn I do not want it to go nowhere at all. I hope it can be loved eventually!

Don't forget to add your best photo to the flickker page!
