Don't have an answer to that; but I have a similar problem - getting the dog hair out of my yarn projects!

I am so disappointed!!!! Not with the afghan, but with myself. I've had a really busy week since the plan was shown for assembly. I laid it all out on a spare bed after my family members left Easter afternoon. Did a little tweaking with the layout (wishing that I had chosen a different MC) and finally decided on my layout. I got all the rows stitched together and then last evening started to stitch the assembled rows together. I had some problems with my NOOK downloading, went to the library after I had printed the border directions. Came home and finished assembling the rows I had been working on. Then, started the border. It went fast, TOO FAST! I went to lay it out on my bed and discovered I had crocheted the border on just the 3 rows that I had assembled. Haste makes waste!!
So now I'm back to sewing the four final rows to the first three that I had done (after ripping off the border that I had thought I had finished!) Oh, well, just a little more to do and then I'll 're-border' it. Hope none of the rest of you are in a hurry and do the same thing. I've enjoyed seeing the few that are completed! Nice work, you "completers". Way to go!!

Dour, like several have already mentioned, I run my finished projects through the dryer to remove pet hair as I have a cat (who like to "help") and a dog. I know it won't remove all the hair but it does help.

Thank you!

Well, I offered this up to my daughter and she turned it down, which I knew she would do when I saw clue 2 and 6. But that was why I felt so strongly about finding other octagons to replace those two clues for my second afghan. Now I am confident I made the right decision and will try and get it completed before the end of the month. I still have about 10 motifs to make. I will also use an alternate design. This first one that I ended up following to a 'T' will go into the next wedding or big gift needed box and hopefully my daughter will prefer the second one so she can lay claim to it.
I also showed her one! She told me a few weeks ago I would never finish this (I have never finished a project that was more than one piece before) so I showed her one! I finished!
So, off to finish second CAL, and I need to try and knit a tidge everyday and eventually that KAL will also get done. Maybe by Christmas!

I am thrilled to death I have a finished gift for a mystery event yet to happen!!

Congrats! :bravo:

I like that. :bravo: I might make one like that too. I'm still putting mine together and trying to figure out a place I could lay it out that my cats won't sit on it. :)

I was a little sad about the border I thought there would be something much fancier then a single crochet to go with the fancy blanket, but oh well it looks nice and it's done and can't complain much when it is a mystery crotchet. :)

I'm going to wait to see what the more creative ladies on here do about the border, but I suspect the reason for the simple border is because the motifs themselves are so involved and detailed. Keeping the border simple keeps the attention on the motifs. Now having said that, I'm thinking about going a little wider - maybe using a dc or at least a hdc - but like I said, I'm going to wait for a bit and see what our rebel ladies come up with before I decide how to proceed! LOL

:hellogoodbye: I'm still joining mine using the flat-braid technique, but seeing the offical border is only single crochet, I'm thinking of doing some kind of shell around the edge as a border (kind of like the frosting on a cake - if you can imagine that).

Rosievig wrote:OK, my Mom passed away after a short illness and I have used this CAL to pass the time while I stayed at a very special cousins house. I stayed there while staying in Syracuse visiting my Mom during her final days. I started the first clue when she went into the hospital and then into the nursing home. It gave my cousin and my Mom something to look forward to each week as I downloaded the clues and worked on it at the house and in my Mom's room. She talked about it with everyone that visited! She did not get to see the finished product, how sad. But it passed the time and united us in it's mystery, what would it look like? So we are now at the end of the afghan and at the end of my Mom's incredible life, that was evident to all that attended her funeral, what a special lady she was!! This afghan will always bring me memories of my Mom's final days and the adventure I had staying and re-uniting with a cousin that was such a good friend of mine when I was younger and saying goodbye to my Mom!
Thank you!!

So sorry for your loss.

That's just the kind of border I was thinking of. Nice to see how it would look. :bravo:
