I am also not happy with this outcome and the border is extremely anticlimatic :( I did like the outcome of the last mystery cal. But after this one it will be difficult for me to do another. Both times, there was not consistency between the sqaures/motifs of their respective blankets. I had to change hook sizes on both to achieve proper sizes (which I never seem to have a problem with otherwise) and then when all pieces were finished, the edges were not even. When designing something like this, the designer should make sure that all edges have the same number of stitches for joining. I'm sure it's a challenge and I can't claim to design anything myself, but that's why I don't do it. I am just extremely disappointed with this ghan and even told my sister to stop. As of last week, she only had clue 1 finished. As a beginner I knew she would get super annoyed with the joining process and never want to work on anything else again, so I've steered her on to a new project.

Sorry for the rant, but it is what it is.

I finished mine last night i love mine. Was unable to acquire the Waverly yarn for the project so I used the cotton and the colours I had available. It is very lacy looking.
This being my first Crochet-Along looking forward to the next one.

Perfectionism is a curse of mine.
I guess I'm gonna be behind just a tad. After seeing all of your pictures of the border I'm leaning towards a shell stitch as well.

Oh my goodness, you think you're a tad behind? My afghan is still in pieces!! I've narrowed the assembly down to 3 possible configurations. Initially I wasn't favouring the official layout, so started playing around with it. With so many inspiring designs on this forum, I came up with a few I really liked. Just for the heck of it, I tried the official layout and yikes...I like it too!!!

sigh...too many possibilities. This is worse than trying to pick the "perfect white" paint colour.

LOL that's where I'm at...trying to find the best configuration!

I have now fallen behind, seaming is not my thing but giving it a go. Didn't like the pattern layout so it has taken me awhile to figure out how I wanted to put this all together now that I have that figured out it's time to seam. The only thing I'm still not sure about is I have alot of the small ones left, what to do with them :helpme:
I'm also thinking about using the shell boarder, hope I have time to finish this a get it posted.

The year I decide to do a CAL the pattern is something I'm not crazy about, will finish it and probably donate to our church Bake/Craft Sale.
Can anyone tell me where to find the CAL for 2009, I saw pictures of 09 and 10 and like those better then this years.

I have been thinking of doing that too! :crown:

I, too, was frustrated by trying to seam the pieces together, especially because my sewing abilities leave a lot to be desired :) but I got the idea from another member to flat braid my pieces together and it worked great.

Here's a link to a video on YouTube that'll show you how to flat braid if you want to give it a try: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2qfBKZwqBgE

Thanks for the link! Will have to try that next blanket.

Anyone else leave all their end-tucking until the end and regretting that decision?
I've got everything seamed and a border on, but I don't feel like it's finished until all of those pesky ends are gone. *sigh*
