I use point protectors on my DP needles to keep the work from falling off as I go around. It's a bit of a pain to take them off and on each needle as I go but I'd rather do that than drop stitches since I'm so incompetent with DPs. I've gotten pretty fast at moving them around the needles but I'm also hoping that with the magic loop I just learned here in the forum that I can ditch the DPs AND the point protectors :notworthy:

Have been wondering why lately when I watch knitting or crochet shows or read newer patterns people are all of a sudden calling for using a tapestry needle to sew in ends. What is the advantage of using a tapestry needle versus a yarn needle like the ones used for plastic canvas???

I like using the tapestry needles in the Chibi plastic tube.
The needles have a curved tip, which makes it easier to grab the yarn when weaving in ends.

Last night, I took a photo of my knitting/crochet stand.

My Knitting Stand by Shandeh, on Flickr

Originally, it was created to be a music stand. But, I soon learned that it was AWESOME as a holder of my knitting patterns and small gadgets.

It is a wide stand, so it's big enough to hold several patterns. I just place them all in the order I want to make them, front to back. The stand is metal, so I can use magnets to mark my place on my current pattern.

At the top of the stand, I have attached a "book-reader" light, which helps me see my pattern better. And I have place a magnetic strip across the top, to hold one or two yarn needles - for quick access when I'm ready to seam or weave in ends.

At the bottom lip of the stand, I place my scissors, a pencil, a few stitch-markers, etc.

I just love my knitting/crochet/music stand. :D

Isn't it the BEST?! I was SOOOO happy when I first figured out to use it for my knitting. I couldn't believe that I had never thought of it before. I used to strain my neck and back so much by trying to put my patterns in places where I could see them as I worked. My music stand has been renamed "THE PATTERN BOOK STAND". ;)

Bummer! Maybe Bernat was doing some system maintenance or something.

Just wondering if any of you own or use yarn bowls. I saw some really pretty ones done by a local potter that I would love to get my hands on, but don't know if they're really feasible for me to use. I'm scared my darling little boy (almost 2) or his cocker spaniel (just a little over 2) or my pomeranian (she's 4) would end up knocking it off the table and breaking it.

I've seen those, and think they are so pretty!
Personally, I would never use one, because I always use center pull skeins for knitting and crocheting.
(I also make center-pull yarn cakes with a yarn winder from the hanks of yarn from fancy yarn shops.)
I don't need a bowl to hold yarn balls, since I never have any yarn balls.
