Mittenmaker, I think I have even come up with a simpler method yet that Will only involve two seams to sew instead of three (like the long rectangle method)! I was thinking about that last night while knitting these 4 rows of pattern. I am one who likes the knit stitch more than the purl, and in this pattern there are two full rows of purl plus the K1P1 row, while there is only one full row of knit.
So I was wondering....why not knit this in the round on circular needles with 116 stitches and joining? I would be able to just Knit, except for the K1P1 row! It would be like a tube. Then just insert the pillow form and sew together bottom and top! I will experiment with that for my second pillow. (Did I just say second? I think I'm on a roll here!)
K1P1quebec, oh my gosh, I

love your afghan!

Sensational!
And your pillow-in-progress is looking GREAT!
Your idea of knitting pillow in this stitch is really innovative!

I agree, this stitch would lend itself so perfectly to this technique! I will DEFINITELY try that! I will be making more pillows as gifts, and this new and improved technique will so accelerate the process.

BTW, I just finished up a Travel-size pillow using a bulky weight non-Bernat

yarn, a silky-rustic variety, did it in simple stockinette because the texture of yarn does not lend itself well to fancy stitches. How awesome it would have been to use the Tube style to fashion this pillow! It was a little tough for me, seaming the sides of pillow (I made 2 pieces) -- because it is hard for me to locate running stitch using that kind of yarn, and that variety of yarn tends to yield bulky-ish seams. It would have been continuous knit only, and 2 less seams to struggle with.
Wow, this is a real epiphany!

Oh, I will send pics of my Redwood color Bernat, Trinity stitch pillow as soon -- I will get some shots of it after I get caught up on my email! Very happy knitting to you!
