Knit-Along Clue 5 (Week 6)

the seaming is going very quickly! but, i did have one question... the 14" tails that i left haven't been long enough to seam the squares together. did anyone else have this problem?

for now, i'm just using new yarn and weaving in the loose ends. it looks good, so i'll probably just continue with this, but i'm wondering if anyone else was able to use those ends and how long they left them to get it to work.
