It is called KW-cable sweater. here is the link http://www.bernat.com/pattern.php?PID=4097 I am using Super value in Natural color. (very classic) But if I had to start over, I probably would use Bernat satin, this yarn is much softer, but I don't know if the look would have been the same

Your sweater is gorgeous. I love the traditional Aran look of it. I think you are right, the Satin would not have looked right, it is too soft and unstructured. That intense of cable work would need a firmer hand to look it's best. I cannot imagine trying to keep up with that amount of cables at one time :scared: I have enough trouble keeping track of a basic cable.

Wow, lialab, that sweater is perfect. I love the classic color. I think it will feel very soft and comfy when worn.
Excellent cable work! I am jealous! You are an inspiration to us who are are yet to make a cabled item :notworthy:

Thank you mittenmaker, I just love knitting cables once you get the hold of it, you just want to do more and more difficult, this sweater is just great for that

Thank you so much, , This is the kind of sweater you don't do in front of TV or when kids are running in the house or even when hubby is around and talk when you're counting your stitches, :P When knitting cables it is a time for myself, and I even forget (sometimes) that dinner has to be done ;)

Hi lialab! I am sure I will get addicted to cables once I start. I did a very simple one last summer, just a practice swatch-- and even though it felt a "little" ;) awkward, it was really nice seeing the cable take shape. I guess it's like most things in knitting, you just keep practicing the new skill and over time, it becomes easier (and fun!!) My goal is a Saxon braid. . .someday. :P :)

I have a Bernat pattern for a cabled hat that does not use a cable needle. What kind of cable needle do you use? My little sample was executed using the type with the v-shaped divot (actually, I made it out of a size 0-ish DPN -- but I think I will probably use the J-shape. I bought some plastic J-shaped ones--I feel more secure with them kind of "trapped" on the J-shape.

Oh, BTW, I think the Bernat Satin would not have lent itself to the rustic look of a fisherman sweater. Just my humble opinion. :)

 You said it right, as you knit cables, it becomes easier and Fun!! Saxon braid is not more difficult than any other cables, I have that kind of braid on the coat I made, I posted a pic on the the forum in the "general knit and crochet" under the name of "warm coat"
As for needle I use, well I guess I developed my own technique with a simple 2 pointed needle (usually same size as the working needles). In order not to loose any stitches, I stick the needle in my work and then knit those stitches from the 2 pointed needle. When too many stitches are involved I just put them back on my working needle. I know it takes longer but who's counting  (I hope I make sense)
And thanks, Your humble opinion is very valuable and I think you are right too, I would not want to start that kind of project and having to rip it off because of the wrong look ;)

Hi Lialab! I treated myself to another look at your Warm Coat--nothing short of spectacular! You set the bar pretty high! :notworthy:
I like the idea of using a DPN as a cable needle--I think I understand about your technique of placing your cable stitches back on working needle. . .like in all fine arts and skills, I believe that whatever technique works best for a person, is the Right technique! :D
Thanks for words of encouragement about Saxon braid--I have a pattern for a Pillow in saxon braid, which would be a good first attempt at that type of cable, after I get a little more experience! My first project will probably be a cabled handbag--the pattern requires 2 strands of yarn to be used at once, which might make the project a little challenging for me, but hey, if I can dream it, I can do it! :P (A side benefit of knitting for me, is more of a can-do attitude!)

:cloud9: I made the Baby Sized Afghan out of our Clues from the 2012 CAL. I used the Bernat Baby Soft Yarns.
Clue #1 is in the White and Clue #3 is in the Pretty Girl. I just picked a simple design and used the Scallop Shell edging. I have been making all kinds of stuff to leave my Great-Grand Children. The ones I won't be around to do for. So, this one goes in the box.

It's not a bernat pattern, but it's bernat yarn and my own "design" using Baby coordinates to make a baby blanket for my mom do give to a coworker. There will be a pink one made right after this one is done

This is beautiful! :inlove: you should post it in the CAL. It might get nominated for unique layout.
