If i understand it right its a zigzag pattern or ? i try to create a 7 valley and top shawl with 80 chains and 4 DC , 2 skip, 4 dc , 2 chains , in first row, all second row with a V_stich at every mountain, and I am not sure if alternate allways this two rows ? A normaly zigzag and the with V-stitch till end ?? I think i sew the not the wood for the trees more ... I have too try to create a foundation but it wasnt abel so i begun with the 80 chains it looks good but is this the right way ? Maybe anybody so helpful to help me ...thanks forward

Hoping someone else can help you better
Here is the knitted shawl
http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library ... ern-lights

It looks very similar to the crocheted bernat baby blanket to me
http://www.bernat.com/pattern.php?PID=6101

If you liked that maybe you could make something similar, but turn it since you wouldn't be working a whole round.
Hope someone else can help you figure it out but at least you can take a look at the baby blanket pattern and see how the increases are made.

Is your shawl going to be a rectangle or a half circle? It sounds like it may be a rectangle to me if you are starting with 80 chains. And if so, this will be just as stunning in my opinion. The one thing I know for sure is that there is not one right way. If it looks good then it is the right way! I have made many scarfs and blankets with this pattern and they are all made differently. I haven't used such colourful stripes though, this will be stunning! I would keep repeating the two rows. I think that the effect will be the same and what a beautiful idea for a shawl. (I hope you can post some pictures here so that we can see, this may also help me to understand better)
