I also tried sl st in the sc instead of ch for the picot and it makes it more centered. Adding that sc in there to me gives it some more stability. I think anyway you choose to do it is fine as long as it is consistent throughout. I was looking for a pretty easy border for a lapghan and this just might be what i choose but I will sl in the sc instead. Thanks for the suggestion, and good luck with yours!
Oops, now I reread the post, is the whole blanket this stitch or what follows? I thought it was edging.

But for the pattern I am working on I am thinking the Picot is as follows, dc, chain 2, sl st in dc itself (not 2nd chain from hook) then another dc in same stitch. I just want to make sure I am doing this correctly. Thanks for any help.[/b][/color]

You are right, I would do exactly what you are thinking if I were making the blanket. A dc, chain 2, sl st in dc itself IS a picot stitch.
