Nice work! Isn't it fun to make big granny squares like that? :D

Yes big grannies are a quick go to for me. They are easy, retro, and still warm!

The first big project I ever crocheted was a one granny square baby blanket in lavender and white. I was so proud of me. Until then I had only made long scraves and what was called an Ali McGraw hat back then because of Love Story. Hard to believe that was 40 years ago.

Since completing the recent KAL I have completed the knitted tea cozy and have started the pleated tea cozy (yup, I am a real tea lover!). I just finished a gorgeous Bernat crochet scarf in the Bernat Cotton Bamboo (pattern was a free download). Plan to start the 2009 knitted KAL late summer. Over the summer months I will be doing dishcloths, scarves and slippers as part of my Christmas gift stash. Quick projects like that are great when we are camping or just relaxing in the shade during the hot summer months. I keep motivated by occasionally playing a Christmas CD....works well on a scorching hot day. The family is used to this "unusual" behaviour....friends just roll their eyes! BTW, I am a Christmas nut too.
So much yarn....so little time!!

Sounds like my family. They got used to my 'oddities' with music out of self defense. One day it may be new country, the next day Mozart or Beethoven piano concertos...or 80's rock or traditional Celtic or Rebel Irish or 50's rock or Broadway musicals and on and on. It changes from day to day. My god daughter just claimed it was proof I was strange

Hey witknit, while I don't listen to Christmas CD's until December. . .your post makes me smile because I too am starting my Christmas knitting now, little by little. . .just finished a Doily style dishcloth this morning, and there are lots of mittens, slippers and pillows on my to-do list!
Oh and by the way, I found a Christmas CD in my CD player in kitchen just the other day, "A Winter's Solstice II" (Windham Hill Artists) ! ;)
Isn't it ironic, don't you think? :P
