Here is the border. My dog, Zoe, seems to like it! I noticed another blanket with my dog on it, anyway it sure looked like her! gruvey9 blue.jpg

She does look very similar to my Bella is she a papillon or a long haired chihuahua?

Azim wrote:Hi, :hellogoodbye: .....I am pleased however with the finished afghan. Wednesday my very proud boyfriend took the finished afghan to work to show it off. Got lots of good "strokes". Daughter and I had a ton of fun and want to thank Bernat for hosting this and all the posting crocheters for sharing so generously all your ideas and life events during this Mystery Tour. (This is my solution regarding cat fur. I have always had a furry cat in my life. I think of it as angora. So to those with angora afghans, you are not alone! Enjoy!) I know this is long but I want to share our fun time with you and now my fingers are busy on a knitted afghan. Bernat, see what you started! LOL! Now I going to attempt to attach the pictures. :D Reached max so will send in batches.

Azim - you should be extremely proud of what you've accomplished; no wonder your boyfriend wanted to show it off to everyone!!! It's beautiful! This one gets my vote for sure. :bravo:

I have never posted yet, but I wanted to share a picture of my finished afghan. I must have changed my mind 5 times on my color scheme, but I am happy with the results. I am thinking about how to use my scrap yarn to make a matching pillow.

I loved looking at all the different layouts and color schemes. What fun this CAL has been! :)

Well i'm done. I had put off finishing because, well first I needed to make some hats for my sister-in-law's mom, who recently lost her hair due to chemo. Second, I was frustrated on how to do a border. I'm still not completely happy with what I ended up with, but it's done. I had almost an entire skein left of each color, and I wanted to use as much of it up as possible. I have enough left over between all the colors now to maybe make a pillow, which I might do. We shall see.

One more pic of another corner, to show the border a bit better.

I finally finished my blanket after much frogging! I tried several layouts and while I absolutely loved the official layout, it just wasn't going to work in our den as it is my husbands domain. I'll use this as a lap blanket while we are watching tv, etc. I'm surprised that mine seems to be the only one with this layout, but maybe that's not a good thing?? I also wanted a more masculine border, so did my version of fringe. I really enjoy the CAL's, this is my second one, and can't wait for another. Jennifer

Awesome layout, Jennifer, it's similar to my second afghan's layout!!!! Yours does create a more masculine feel. I'll repost a picture of it when I am on my computer next.....can't post pictures from my iPad.

Edited....Here is the picture of my second afghan.

Many thanks to tjwjlove, whose layout I "borrowed". I used Border #8 from Edie Eckman's Around the Corner Crochet Borders, which I had just recently purchased. The base single crochet round is Gypsy Gold, and the border round is my main color, Tibetan Red. I really love the red and gold together.

Link to my project page on Ravelry with more pictures and comments about the process: http://www.ravelry.com/projects/g120luvs2crochet/waverly-for-bernat-mystery-cal-2012

Edited to make my picture show up! Finally!!!!

I like your final design; the red really pulls it all together quite nicely. I agree with your comment on Ravelry regarding using Bernat's layout. It just didn't do justice to your colors. :bravo:

You may have fretted over your border, but it came out very nice! It really added the last feminine touch to it. Your color choices are so complimentary as well.

Sorry to hear about your sister-in-law's mom; she'll be in our prayers.

Thanx kodikins. She's doing well, and evidently she went nuts for the hats. :) it's always sooo nice to have your work appreciated. I had a lot of practice making chemo hats for my mom, so it was a piece of cake to design a couple for her.

I wish we had a category for best original border. I've seen some amazing one I'd love to learn how to do....

oh and I'd love to post pics of the hats I did. I'm really happy with all of them, and Cristina (the recipient) modeled them for me after she received the package. Maybe i"ll post them over in the "what your'e working on while..." forum.
