Duplicating a pattern

Postby BuckeyeMom » Mon Apr 30, 2012 12:05 pm

:helpme: I have an afghan pattern that I would like to make again. The problem is that I have lost the pattern. It was one that someone gave to me 30 years ago. I have the afghan but not how to make it. How do I go about writing the pattern from the afghan that I have.

Maybe if you could take a closeup of the pattern and post it someone could help you. Sometimes, all you have to do is look at it and it is easy to decipher. Thee are so many talented people here, I'm sure there is one who can help. I'd be interested to see it.

Here's a picture. I know that it is done with multiple + stitches for the pattern depending on the size. I have made this as a baby blanket, this one which is bed size, and one for my daughter which is in-between. It is an easy one to make with only knit and purl. Nothing fancy. It is really warm.

Here are a couple of more. My dog loves to sleep on anything that I have knitted. Her claws get caught on the yarn. This is an older afghan.

Hi,
I am just barely learning to knit so I cannot tweak a pattern, but I was looking at the 2010 Bernat KAL afghan and some of the blocks have designs in purl stitches that are filled in with knit stitches I am thinking in particular of #2 and #4. The photos are smaller so I think that is what they are, but maybe if you looked at their patterns, your pattern might come back to you.

There is a pattern at Interweave for a honeycomb stitch that looks alot like this one.

The only other time I have seen this was an old afghan pattern but it was bigger circles. It was called Honeycomb and was white and golden yellow. If this isn't it, I would start doing searches for knitted honeycomb patterns. Hope this helps
