It's currently on hold as I had surgery on my hand 2 days ago. I've been waiting 4 months for the surgery and have been having pain in my hand for 3 years now. This surgery is my "hope" of my hand being normal again. I won't know for several weeks still if it worked, but I'm already going crazy not being able to crochet! I picked up the recently started blanket and my yarn tonight, while my husband glared at me, but it was still too painful so I set it back down. I guess I'll take it easy for a bit (at least until the stitches are out) :) Until I can get back at it, I'm enjoying looking at the new projects and all the beautiful CAL/KAL's.

Hehe okie dokie Shandeh! I did 2 dc last night in my project and came to the same conclusion as you so I put it down. Watching tv isn't quite the same without a project in my lap, but hopefully I'll be back at it soon . . . and painfree too! It is fun to look at the forums and all the pretty stuff people are making. Thanks for your concern :)

Along with my CAL afghan, I've been making an afghan for a friend. While we were out on New Year's Eve she asked if I could make her a "zigzag" afghan. Since she doesn't crochet, I figured she meant a ripple. She only wanted two colors, and I thought boy, that's going to be boring. So I came up with a way to make it not boring. It's all back loop only sc, done with an H hook (for me this is tiny stitches). The bands of color are graduated from the bottom up, 2 rows of burgundy, 4 of buff, 1 of burgundy, 4 of buff, etc. I continued this up from 4 rows of each to 6 rows of each with two rows of each color as a separator. When I got to the middle, I did a row of buff, a row of burgundy, a row of buff then did a mirror image of the first part in reverse. The back loop only sc made it look quite different from one side to the other. Also, when flipped over, it is the opposite (this is most noticeable when looking at the center of the afghan).

Nice work! I like those two colors together, and your zig zag row arrangement is fun!

I don't remember who, but someone posted a link to a video on how to "hide" your loose ends when doing granny squares. I've finally gotten back to that guitar blanket, and the technique definitely shortens my time on tying off loose ends. so...Thank you whoever that was! (I don't have the patience right now to go trolling thru 30+ pages to find it....lol)

It might have been the video that Crystal from Bernat made: Hiding Yarn Tails as You Crochet

no, it was specifically about changing color in grannies. That one doesnt' work on grannies because of the open spaces. Anyway...it really really helped. :)

Hi Jazz,

Might it be Crochet Cabanahttp://www.crochetcabana.com/tutorials/ends.htm or maybe Bethintx1 http://www.YouTube.com/watch?v=mXAiPijgQVo

I wish I had seen these before I began the Mystery Cal, but will remember for next year's Cal.:-)

I've got quite a few projects going on. At the moment I'm trying to finish up a doily for a b-day gift and a graduation bear for a graduation gift. Will try to post a pic with how far I've gotten so far later today.

Other projects in process are:

Bookmark
Shawl http://www.ravelry.com/projects/lainna
Cotton hat
Afghan
Socks
Bandit's blanket - not started yet
Kitchen towel and cloth for friends b-day

So now that the Cal is finished, I need to get busy! I'd like to do the mermaid purse, but had to deliberately stop myself until I finish a couple projects first. :-)

Laina :-)

Type1Mom wrote:I love seeing what everyone is working on. Thought I would post the almost finished afghan from the square I posted earlier. Took me working on it off and on all weekend, but I got all 63 squares pieced together and now am working on the border. The pattern calls for only two of the colors in the border, but I have enough yarn of each left to add all four colors to the border.

Hello Type1Mom...
Just going through this Forum again and come across yours. I really like the pattern you have done and the colors you did it in. Will you share the pattern with us? (me?) Thanks and God blessings to you.
