This is my very 1st afghan ever...actually it's my 1st project learning to follow a pattern (other than making a wash cloth) even. I guess when I decide to try something, I really dive right in. I have to admit that I am beyond pleased with myself and can't wait to start another project! =)
*The yarns that I used are unfortunately a discontinued item which I was lucky to have enough of.

Although I'm a beginner, I had to jazz it up a bit. Looks like I always have to find my way of being unique!

I like how the blue border makes the rest of the design - - - POP!

crochetfanatic wrote:I finally figured out how to get a good picture of my CAL afghan. It's so big (at least 6ft square) I didn't have anywhere inside my house big enough to get a good picture of it. So I took it outside and laid it on the lawn and went up to the second floor porch to get a full shot of it.

I love it! :inlove:
And I really love the story of how you took the photo. I imagined being there with you, and I wondered what the neighbors thought as you were doing all that. I have gotten some funny looks when I've taken photos of my work outside. But, the photo is always worth it.

npteach wrote:My finished CAL!! I used two Waverly colors, Celadon and Blue Gown. The other 3 colors are from my stash. I added color D to the border and mixed colors in the flower centers. This is the second CAL Mystery Afghan I have completed. They are so much fun!! I just love all the variety of finished afghans. While I didn't actively participate in the forum this time, it was a great support. Many of my questions were answered!! So thanks and great job, everyone! :D

Nice work! Those colors remind me of the ocean - so peaceful and beautiful.

I can't tell you the number of hours I tried and tried to get it to show up, even after resizing 3 or 4 times and somehow it wasn't resized by the time I got back to the Bernat Forum site. I guess I need a lot of computer help when it comes to doing certain things. Any way, Thank you, Shandeh and Bernat for a fun experience. I'm looking forward to next time!!!

Glad to help. I could see that you were really trying.

My Goodness! I FINALLY finished my beast tonight! ...and I say that with all the affection in the world

I struggled alot with my border...and came up with something that I thought would accent the laceyness of the piece. The individual pieces were blocked as I did them, but I realize I should block the entire piece because of how I did the border.....just have to find a big enuf area to do it in....the bed is too small (as you can see...)

thanks to Bernat and those on this board for the advice and direction....I will definately do one of these again!

Congratulations! I just love that lacy border! :inlove:

Oh my goodness! I gasped when I saw your afghan. All I'd ever seen was motifs made in a single colors, but when I saw how you did some motifs with centers one color and the outer rounds a different color...and then put them all together into an afghan....The effect is awesome! I think this method of incorporating more than one color in each motif really shows the detail of each motif well.

I can be glad I missed this CAL because I can see all of your finished afghans and this one is definitely a method I'm going to consider when I begin this afghan.

Great Job!

Karla

hi,
I have been lurking since the beginning too, ordered my yarn online and got it all the way to Oman at the beginning of April. i might be the furthest person from you all working on this CAL.
Because i started so late I did exactly what u're suggesting Karla and followed daveretts'. i still have 7 squares to make and 4 octagons of clue 6. Unfortunately, i was trying hard to finish and enter the competition but it doesn't seem it's meant to be. However, when I finish it i will show it off here.

Daverett, :bravo: , i showed my daughter different pictures and she chose yours( after my recommendation ofcourse).
Really thanks for every one.
