If you haven't already noticed, I created a separate post, which has all the photos of completed CAL blankets. No comments can be made to that thread. This makes it easy to see all the blankets.

Enjoy!

This has been a wonderful project for me to participate in, although I was not very vocal this year. We all have wonderful stories to share, and mine will remain in my heart for now. Thank you, Bernat, for sponsoring this event, and for the yummy soft Waverly yarn! Thank you to the moderators, participants who have been so helpful to anyone frustrated with this, and to all of the wonderfully talented ciber acquaintances http://www.flickr.com/photos/svmatt/. My main frustration was putting the final layout together! I have photos of many possibilities, including using an alternate color for the center motif, but the final looks great in our home in the mountains, believe it or not! And you all thought mountain homes were full of "animal" colors! HaHa! Anyway, I posted the final on Flikr with a detail of the edging, and here it is! That is, if it will load properly! If not, it is on Flikr, svmatt.

crochetfanatic wrote:I finally figured out how to get a good picture of my CAL afghan. It's so big (at least 6ft square) I didn't have anywhere inside my house big enough to get a good picture of it. So I took it outside and laid it on the lawn and went up to the second floor porch to get a full shot of it.

I love it! :inlove:
And I really love the story of how you took the photo. I imagined being there with you, and I wondered what the neighbors thought as you were doing all that. I have gotten some funny looks when I've taken photos of my work outside. But, the photo is always worth it.

Thanks, Shandeh! Well, luckily, it being mid-workday on Friday, there wasn't anyone around to see. Though by now they're used to me wandering around outside with camera in hand. In the summer I photograph my flowers, in the winter, snow. I don't know what they would have thought of seeing an afghan on the ground though. :) Yes, that's true, it looked so much better out there than inside.

And, more to the story, I was on the porch lamenting that it was still raining as it had done all night and morning, and suddenly, it stopped raining. So I grabbed my afghans and went outside to take the photos (figuring I was running between the raindrops) and as I was taking them, it went from very cloudy to bright sunshine. If you look at the plastic I laid down on the grass, you can see the difference of when the sun was shining and causing a bright reflection. Also, funny enough, when I was done, I was standing there talking to my husband and a beautiful butterfly came and almost landed on my afghan. I wondered if it thought they were flowers too. :) I pulled the camera up to take a picture, but oops, I had turned it off. When I turned it on, the butterfly was gone.

So lovely! I see you changed up the colors for your clue 6 but did you stay to the pattern as written or change that up too? It looks a little fuller, or maybe that's just because of the color change up.

I had something similar happen. One day, I was leaving my house to run an errand, and I noticed a HUGE hawk (or falcon) sitting tall and proud on my mailbox post. He was absolutely GORGEOUS! I slowly and carefully walked back inside for my camera, came back out, then aimed for a shot. Unfortunately, my zoom could not get close enough. I took a few steps, looked back up, and he was gone. :tears:

I guess they just come by to bless us but are camera shy.
