psychedelic hobo bag, 2011 model

Here is my very first handbag along with the pattern. I used Bernat Handicrafter "Psychedelic" -- I just love that yarn, as you can tell. . . ;) :P
This handbag is very sturdy (it survived vacation in the Upper Peninsula last summer!) -- fun to carry, durable and machine washes and dries like a dream. I am currently making another in Ecru color--not sure of the handle I will use. Either a dark brown rattan, dark brown rectangular wood or maybe I will make my own handle using some big cool beads. If I use rattan handle, I may sew some small beads on front and back of bag. I will share photos of my Ecru Hobo in the near future. :knit:

Nice bag! It certainly reminds me of the 70's! I think I had a bag just like that when I was growing up in that decade.

About the handle....there's a little trick I know of for getting great handles for a good price. Go to thrift stores, and buy old ugly bags with nice handles! Just cut the old bag off from the handle, and use the handle on your nice, new bag!

Nice handbag! THat is a good tip Shandeh, but I think I have a couple of handbag handles I bought years ago stashed away under my bed. Love the yarn!

Gosh, me too! My problem is that when I go to work on a handbag, I can't find the handles! :?

Thanks zhanie! :D And I agree with you too--Shandeh -- that is a Great idea  for cool handbag handles! They're fairly expensive in craft stores, and the ones you find on thrift-store bags are so unique, just like the bag it's intended for!
