ty, I am doing your trick of bringing the loop up to full stitch height and I am not that far off of gauge now. The back is going to be bigger then the front but they may be a good thing since the front is much smaller. There is a crocheted bird I have to make that gets sewed on to the front piece.

Woo Hoo! So glad you are getting gauge now!
I learned about bringing the loop up like that when I did last year's Project Linus Baby Blanket CAL/KAL.
When I watched Laura from Bernat crocheting a baby blanket on this video:

My crocheting improved SO much when I learned to let the yarn flow like that.

Finished that pillow with the gauge problem. Here is a picture of it. The color is off. THe wings, tail, feet and beak are dark purple. The head is light purple changing into greys and blacks. The wing looks funny the way they had me attach it. It looks like the wing is coming off his head but that is the way they had it done.

Fun! I love birds. I need to knit or crochet some bird toys, and make a mobile or something. :)

I corrected the wing placement. I moved it down further along its back. Looks a whole lot better.
