I find it has a beautiful fray that makes it difficult to weave in as I would using any other yarn.

I weave in the end like normal, then, I weave it back the other way, running the yarn back through itself, to secure it.

I pretty much always end this way and I still have trouble with the Satin when I do that. I must be the only one to ever have a problem with Satin and ends
:(

Another thing you could do is get some regular sewing thread and a sewing needle, and stitch the ends closed for about half an inch....in an insignificant part of the project.

Congratulations! :bravo:
I will be posting seaming instructions soon.
First, I want to post how the coin purse is made, so it will all come in order for other knitters who participate.

I made my change purse in Bernat Super saver rouge. It is my new favourite colour. It matches the flower on my mermaid purse! I am using it to hold all those pesky cards I have in my purse.

I LOVE it, zhanie! Perfect color, and perfect use of the coin purse.
I'm thinking of using mine to hold my business cards.

VIDEO: Casting On and Getting Started

Postby Shandeh » Tue May 15, 2012 10:13 am

I made a little video, showing how to get started with our coin purse.
In the video, I show casting on, placing a stitch marker to show the right side (RS) of the project, working seed stitch, taking the yarn back and forward to work the stitches correctly, what happens if you don't move the yarn forward or backward, and how to undo stitches if you make a mistake (tinking).

I finished my piece. There are a few obvious mistakes and my size is half an inch too wide. I made it a little taller to help it proportion out better. Wish I had been smarter and left a longer tail on at the start so I could use it for my seaming. My advice to anyone who joins in late, leave a starting tail, 6 inches should be fine, when you cast on. I poked my finger through the button holes to exaggerate them for the photo and the purple looks way brighter than it really is. Plum Mist Heather Satin

Good work!
You are like me....you do a tight cast-off.
I'm still trying to cast off more loosely....it's really hard to make it just right.

Now, all you have left to do is seam it together, and add buttons. :)

I will work on mine some more today, so I can do videos on the K2together and YO for making the buttonhole.
Then, I will do a cast off video. And finally, a video on seaming.

How do you cast looser? Do you need to switch to a larger hook?
I will have to try and wade through my craft room to find a couple buttons, so will save that for when I am feeling braver!

PS: I was looking again at the photo with the pattern and finally realized why it looks so wrong (thanks to Zhanie) - the second button is missing. I was thinking it was on the flap (doh!). Maybe Bernat should be informed so they can update the photo

This coin purse is too cute to pass out, moreover it is a nice addition to the mermaid purse
