Summer - Gentle Waves

Postby karenarp » Sun May 13, 2012 3:28 pm

Bernat #530193, Around the Seasons Afghans
a booklet from Bernat. Was also available for a short time if you did a survey for them as a PDF DL.
er
I am currently working on this. I really got very bored working on my second CAL so instead of sitting here doing nothing cuz I don't wanna work on it I decided to start this. It is a different pattern than I am sued to even though it is simple. I love how it is working up. Only have three rows done for now. So will post this and get to work on it! Wonder how long it will take me eh!?

Thank you
Only made it to the end of the sixth row.
Not as easy to stay on a project when my son is visiting and always wanting me to play with him!
I don't think this will take that long, after all the pattern only calls for 8 balls of yarn! So once the distractions of family leave then I am sure I will be able to fly through it.

PS: What is the difference between this topic and the top one, Bernat Yarns and Patterns?
Patterns and projects seem the same to me? I had a hard time deciding what topic to place this one under!

Not much difference, actually.

Bernat Yarns and Patterns is a place to discuss specific Bernat yarns or patterns.

Bernat Projects is where you can post all kinds of Bernat projects, including those which are no longer available online. It is also good for projects where you only use the Bernat yarn, and use a different pattern. Or, if you use a Bernat pattern, with a different yarn. Of course, since we are on the Bernat website, we should limit our discussions to the Bernat portion of the projects.

Karenarp--thanks for asking that question and Shandeh, thanks for reply! I had been unsure about posting a photo of a Bernat project that was made w/ non-Bernat yarn :o -- I use a lot of Bernat patterns AND yarn, but not always @ the same time, and I wouldn't want to disrespect the forum/product. :stop: I understand about the keeping it Bernat part. :crown:
One question, though--I am wondering about Lily and Patons yarns--are they considered Bernat? Their addresses are the same as Bernat's and I am confused; are they the same entity? I do not often use Handicrafter yarn as it is not as readily available in my area, as is Sugar'n'Cream. The 3 yarn brands seem to be closely related .

Finished the first colour repeat of pattern tonight. I imagine it will repeat 4 more times. If that is the case I should be done this afghan in 2 weeks. Hoping for sooner, but only time will tell.
I think I ended up short one pattern repeat across. But I can make up for it in the border section I am sure

Thanks for the reply Shandeh, that sort of clears things up, now the water is only a little murky!

Lily and Patons are not Bernat products. They are separate, but related.
All three companies are owned and operated by Spinrite.

Thank you, but... well, I only sort of chose them in that I bought the bags that had the colours in there!
I had gone to the Spinrite Tent Sale one year and bought a ton (two giant garbage bags full) of satin yarn. The yarn comes in bags of 6 and were $9 each - but if you bought 3 bags you got one free. So I just bought and bought and had a garage sale so I could buy more with that money. This was the beginning of my yarn stash!
So I laid all the Satin out on my living room floor, it about covered the whole floor, not kidding! I printed off the 8 patterns from that booklet this pattern is from and told my daughter to go to it and pick colours that would well together and we then set up the 8 patterns and yarn into project bags so I would always remember what it was intended for. I already made 3 blankets using that pile and two repeats of my choosing from this book. Finally getting around to finishing the other sets.
My daughter has amazing colour sense. She picked combinations I would never have dreamed of putting together but in the end I think work beautifully! She is the proud owner of the first afghan I made with all that yarn, using colours I didn't think worked together but it is a gorgeous afghan.
I swear my pile of Satin has not gotten any smaller even with the yarn taken out to make the sets. I think it breeds when you get too many. teehee
