Basic Boys Sweater pattern

Postby pammielou82 » Tue May 15, 2012 2:53 pm

I am fairly new to knitting and started with the hope of making really cute sweaters and sweater vests for my 2 young boys. They are required to wear a uniform to school and it has been hard to find a lot of clothes within the strict color code. So far I can't seem to find any patterns in their sizes (large or extra large). I have started many projects trying to make my own pattern and end up taking them apart when I get to the neckline. Any tips about either where to find a pattern, or how to successfully complete a sweater or vest would be great! Thanks

There is one Bernat pattern book I know of that contains nice, basic designs for boys sweaters.
It's called "9 Family Designs to Knit", and you use the older version of Bernat Softee Chunky to make the designs.
You can purchase the book through Bernat here: "9 Family Designs to Knit"

You can still find the older version of Softee Chunky in some craft stores, or in people's yarn stashes on Ravelry.

There is also a free pattern on the Bernat website for a basic sweater here:
Family Stripes Sweater
You could leave off the stripes, and make it all in one color.

The "Heart and Star" pullover would also work. Just leave off the heart or star.
