I have pretty much always used this method to find the inside end strand. Today though, this ball had a mind of its own! Take a look! I have crocheted 2 rows in the afghan with it and still no end to the tangle in sight. I will not give up hope though, this does happen rarely. I have noticed on Satin balls my inside blob is almost always a blob, but usually managed before the middle of a row of an afghan, not this sucker!

Yes, very rarely, this will happen. It's because the Satin yarn is so soft, so it grabs hold of itself.
Just pick up the pile of mess, and let it gently flow through your fingers as you work out the tight spots. If you pull it too hard, it will make wicked knots. Good luck!

Wow, karenarp, that is a nasty blob! I have struggled with snarls before, but they were of my own making  But you can work your way through it--we're cheering you on! :hellogoodbye:

I did it!
Only took four rows of working that colour into the pattern to get to the end of the 'blob' and a lot of patience as I went. It was too much of a blob to try and untangle more than needed at the time. I never pulled on it as I went, I gently allowed it to work itself with a little help from me once in awhile.

 Thank you thank you for posting that picture! Even though I knew that this happens to other people (I have noticed comments about it on this forum), I don't think I really believed it until now. Thank you Karenarp for making me feel validated! I am normal after all. Of course I get less tangles now and I handle them better since Shandeh's video, but I have to say I love this picture. :inlove:

Yay! :bravo: It is SO tempting to pull and tug on the yarn, out of frustration, more than anything. . .
We knew you would be fine. Great advice from Shandeh! :D

I'm now on the third ball of Satin while working on my On the Lace Sweater, and all three have had this same HUGE blob of yarn in the center! :ire: I have had to pull it out in two or three sections.....not seriously tangled, but just an large mess to slowly work through. I'm ready to start winding all my yarn into a ball, or just putting each ball into a container of some kind and working from the outside!
