Games: PC, Mobile, systems

Any gamers here?

I have been playing video games for such a long time, it's hard for me to remember what I did with my time before having them.

It all started when my parents got a Nintendo game system (NES original) for my little boys back in the 1980's. Before that came along, our only source of entertainment was reading books, taking walks, feeding ducks at the park, or playing board games. Those days were OVER when the Nintendo invaded our house. But, I enjoyed it as much as the boys did.

As time went on, we got a Super Nintendo, then soon became interested in PC video games. We had the small Gameboys too - one for each of the boys, and a pink one for me! :) When the boys got older, I bought myself a Nintendo Gamecube. Recently, I purchased a Wii as well.

And I also have a Nintendo DS Lite.

Now, my boys NEVER play video games, but I am still a big fan. :)

Here are my current favorites.
PC: The Sims, The Sims 2, Nancy Drew mysteries, Agatha Christie mysteries, Diner Dash, Build-a-lot, and some others. I would like to play the Sims 3 also, but my computer isn't strong enough for it.

Wii and Gamecube: Animal Crossing, Harvest Moon, Wii Fit Plus, Endless Ocean, Wii Sports, Deca Sports, Game Party 2.

Nintendo DS and Gameboy: Hotel Dusk, Last Window, Animal Crossing, The Game of Life, Yahtzee, Club House Games, Harvest Moon, Sims 2 Castaway, Nintendogs, The Sims Bustin' Out, The Urbz, Cooking Mama, AGAIN, Trace Memory, and Lost in Blue 2.

At one time, I had an Android device, and loved playing Angry Birds. But my android is gone now. I'm okay, though. I have plenty of things to occupy my time....like KNITTING and CROCHET! :knit: :cooldude:

I have wii fit. I LOVE build a lot! Actually, I miss it.
Other than those two , I haven't played any other of your favourites except mario party.

My favs are: Donkey Kong, Space Invaders, and all of the mario brothers games. I think my favourite was the one on the supernintendo system that my husband and I bought in 1990. On the game cube I love Mariocart. I like almost all of the Legend of Zelda games.

In the future I'll look for a time management game like the one where you make pizzas or cupcakes .... It's really amazing how good I am at organizing my time and getting into a routine when it's not real life!:)

Whoa! You like those FAST games! I'm really bad at those, because of my arthritis. The only game I like that is slightly fast is Diner Dash. I can only play one level at a time on that, or my hand hurts.

I prefer slow games, that require organization, or a bit of brain power.

Lately, I've been addicted to Club House Games on the DS. It's awesome, because it includes so many games. It has several different card games, a word game, darts, billiards, bowling, a balance game, mahjong, dominoes, and many more. And I can play it while resting in bed.

my favourites are games like Tetris or Dr. Mario or Pokemon or the first few Final Fantasy (when they were pokemon style and not action style)
The above games are more brain power than finger power. You don't need to learn fancy moves that twist your thumbs and fingers into pretzels. I could never figure out how to play any of the Mario games cuz they required fancy finger moves somewhere in the game and I cannot do them. The few times I played a Mario game I had to get one of the kids to help me! who wants to play a game they can never finish on their own!
I go in phases, since I only play the games at bed time, I want ones that will engage my brain enough to get it to stop thinking about the day so I can fall asleep. I love pokemon for that! If you have never tried pokemon you really should! nothing fancy about it and it is a huge puzzle. I love puzzles! I can be as mindless or as active as you want it to be. In other words you can just stand there and build up experience mindlessly or you can try and solve the puzzles, kind of depends on how tired I am.

Right now I am in my DrMario phase. stacking those little pills and beating the bugs!
I haven't changed my game in awhile, maybe I should go back to my pokemon!

ugh, nope, I remembered why I am stuck playing DrMario now, my system broke awhile back and that is the only game I can see, ugh! My colours are wonky and the screen is a little fuzzy. Dr Mario doesn't require a super clear proper colour screen to stack the pills.
Maybe if we stopped going to Disney stuff I could afford a new system!

I downloaded build-a-lot on my i-phone, so needless to say, I'm not getting much knitting done! I think that once I have mastered the game (nearly there) I mustn't download any more!

That game is so fun and addictive! And it really develops project management skills!

I just saw this thread and had to throw my 2 cents in :cooldude: Having small-ish kids (7 & 9) we definitely have video games in the house, but I enjoy them as much as they do.

While they prefer anything with Mario in the name, I absolutely LOVE :inlove: the Professor Layton series for the Nintendo DS. It is more a thinking game where you are solving puzzles and riddles through out the game. Some are so completely frustrating that it leaves both my husband and I just scratching our heads. My 9 year old son has just started the first Professor Layton (Curious Village) and I keep telling him that this is not a quick game. Hopefully this will cause him to slow down some.

We (the kids and I) also enjoy the Kirby games for the DS, Tetris, Princess Peach (well until my DD erased my level) and of course anything with the name Lego in it.

Ack! I would have been SO FRUSTRATED if one of my kids had erased one of my levels!

When my boys were young, and were ignoring me while playing Nintendo...I would say, "OK, 15 more minutes, then it's time for bed!" When two minutes were left, I would say, "You'd better save your game, because that system is going off in two minutes!"

When the minutes were up, I turned it off, and they both said, "MOM!!!! WE WERE ALMOST FINISHED!!"

But, they never ignored me after that. ;)

And I LOVED having the "No Nintendo" thing as a punishment when they misbehaved. :)

I had written out a long response to this a few days ago, but then my Internet cut out and I lost it! :tears:

The short of it was that I love me some games ;) My favorites are either RPGs (role-playing games, the type where you level up and allot skills to different areas) or really puzzle or platformer games that make intricate puzzles out of very few controls. In the second category, Little Big Planet and Portal 2 are the two that I love the most. For RPGs, I've been playing Neverwinter Nights for YEARS and I'm still not sick of it.

Right now, I'm playing Mass Effect 2 on my Playstation 3 (today's post has been brought to you by sequels!) It's a space opera made by the same studio as Neverwinter Nights, but eight years later. The worlds they created for it are so huge and intricate, you can spend hours just wandering around checking out the different places and people!
