Learn to Knit II - Seed Stitch Coin Purse!

I made my change purse in Bernat Super saver rouge. It is my new favourite colour. It matches the flower on my mermaid purse! I am using it to hold all those pesky cards I have in my purse.

Hi zhanie! I love your little coin purse! BSV Rouge is my favorite too! I have a bunch stashed away to make my 1st sweater with!
I made a coin purse too and I love it! It works great to stash drivers license and currency/coins, as an alternative to a handbag--I used mine yesterday when I took Mr Jingles to Petsmart. I might make a slightly larger version to hold coupons and receipts! The only problem I have, is deciding what yarn in my stash to use--and this is a great project to help use up "orphan" yarn.

I have finished mine. I am not too happy with it as I still have to practice my cast off and I messed up a few times. I may have purled or knitted when I was supposed to knit or purl. So I came up with a system to help me remember which stitch was next. For me, all knit stitches were the odd numbers and purl the even numbers. It helped tons. I am currently working on my second one.
Enough rambling. Here is my coin purse (1st attempt). I used the left over Waverly yarn from my CAL blanket in Porcelain Red.

:knit: I finished mine and enjoyed the knit, purl, knit. Takes a little more time, having to move the yarn back and forth. Good practice, and I know I need that.

Finished my coin purse, finally. This was fun. Mine is made with Bernat Handicrafter in Over the Rainbow. It is really easy to knit with. Although it wasn't fun putting a shank on the button with it. The button isn't as dark as it looks, it is a lime green.

Hi Shandeh, hope you are feeling weller and stronger!
I whipped up one of these sweet little coin purses in a jif! I had to scrounge buttons (the little plain pearly type on shirts) and they're a tad too small, but that's alright! I plan to purchase a bag of assorted buttons and make plenty more of these little numbers! The possibilities are endless!

Every day I am slowly adding a few rows to a second purse. I love the repeatedness of the pattern so I can learn better tension control. I plan on making more with my scraps from the Gentle Waves afghan I am making. I figure I can donate them to a school for their garage sales/fundraisers they always have or a church if I end up making too many to keep! And I get the bonus of being able to practice my knitting over and over and use up those tiny bits of yarn that are too large to toss and too small to make a full row!
All your coin purses are turning out so well, love the variety of colours and buttons being used

I just had a cool idea of what we could do with extra coin purses - use them for giving gift cards as presents!
I was looking at my bookmarks and saw a gift card holder in one of my patterns and it looked a lot like the coin purses! I know some have already said they were using it to hold extra cards already, so this is just an extension of that! Just think, make a bunch of these and you have lots of Christmas gifts started! Great for small gifts like the paper carrier who you may gift a $5 Tim Hortons card to, now you can jazz it up even more!
PS: I never gift those kind of small gifts, but some people do. When I used to deliver papers I was surprised at how many people would give small Christmas gifts to us!
