Bernat Mosiac

Postby lavonne3ca » Mon May 14, 2012 1:23 pm

I love Bernat Mosiac, I would love seeing posts of what others have done with it.
Last year I crocheted a cowl with Medusa and this year a wrap cardi with Ninja.

these are so beautiful!!! I love them both. I would like to make a cowl like that too!

While I was doing the CAL and KAL I made a vest using Bernat mosaic. I love this yarn! It turned out well except the arm holes were a little wavy. I blocked it and this helped. Any advice? I have made a crocheted border and I have sewn a hem, but I frogged both of these ideas.

I love these examples of Mosaic yarn projects, and I love the colors and the overall look of this yarn, but does anyone else find it a bit difficult to work with? I know its acrylic yarn, but it really has a feel more like cotton, and doesn't seem to have the same "give" that other yarns do. I thought about doing the on the lace sweater with it because of the colors, but after doing a small pattern swatch, decided against it. The hook doesn't seem to slide through this yarn the way it does with others. Or is it just me??? :idonno:

Breathtaking work lavonne3ca and zhanie! :inlove:
I knitted a fan and feather scarf using Mosaic Spectrum color--photo posted under "Bernat Projects."
I love Mosaic--it looks and feels delicate, but it is durable too! It launders nicely.

Hi linda2012--Mosaic does feel like cotton, doesn't it! I noticed that too. The yarn seems to feel more "threadlike" to me. . .I am a knitter, I didn't have problems with it, but using it for crochet could present different issues? :idonno:  I think Mosaic feels more like a Sport weight than a Worsted / 4 category. I do like it a lot because it seems very "boutique-y"--the Medusa color is gorgeous! :D

In my experience with Mosaic, I have found it to be a delicate yarn. I do my best to let it flow through my fingers, so it doesn't stretch too much. I just love the feel of it, and the colors are divine. :inlove:

For some reason the two balls of Into the Woods I bought are really over spun. They're horrible to work with. The yarn twists and knots and I spend most of my time fighting with it.

I wanted the colour so bad I ended up pulling a whole ball, cutting it into lengths and then winding the lengths around the house on door knobs, chair legs, and other things .. pulling it through several times until it softened and unwound. Then I rewound it back into a ball.

Even after all that it's still "hard" to the touch and has no loft. I'm incredibly disappointed. :tears:
