And I only had to frog one time!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess I spoke too soon! I didn't have it figured out after all. So a froggin' I went, again! Then I didn't have enough shells in the foundation row!! So now I have to frog again!!!!! I guess I need lessons in doin' chains or counting! Hopefully I'll get it right this time.

Thanks for the video Shandeh. It sure does help a lot! :bravo:

Easy solution for getting the correct number of chains in any foundation row. Just chain a few more times than you think you need. I always miscount unless I use markers, even then if you skip too many chains anywhere in the foundation row, you will be off. With the extra chains, you don't have to worry about not having enough, and you can always undo the unnecessary ones when you are done!

Thanks for that tip! I finally got it right. It only took 4 tries. So foundation row is done. So on with the show!! :cloud9:

By George! I think you've got it! I can't tell you how many times I read that line, and was still reading it wrong! I really didn't think it was right, but went on working just to see how it would turn out.....until I got to the rows to shape the top of the sleeve, then realized this wouldn't work! It was one of those things that my years of sewing were telling me what to do, but clearly my reading and comprehension skills weren't cooperating. I was ready to do what instinct was telling me anyway. I'll be taking out a few rows tonight and re-working. It goes quickly, so no big deal!

Thank you Shandeh! :bravo: You rule!

A chart of the first couple of rows of sleeve increases would be SOOO helpful. Never used charts before I joined this forum. Now I don't know how I ever figured anything out without them!

Yay! I'm so glad we figured it out together! :bravo:
One thing I have learned from making Bernat projects so long is that EVERY SINGLE WORD IS IMPORTANT. :reading:
So many times, while working a pattern, I will get so frustrated, wondering what the heck I'm doing wrong, then I read the instruction again, very slowly, and ONE word will finally "click".

I agree that a chart for the sleeve would be an excellent idea! ;)

Oops! I guess it would help to add the photo!

I don't know if I ever commented on this before, but your gauge swatch looks nice! The color of that yarn is lovely, isn't it?

Yep.....that was it! Didn't get to work on this on Monday, so last night, I finished up the first sleeve. 1 down and 1 to go. This should be finished by the weekend! Thanks again!

Here is the response that I got from inquire@bernat.com regarding the girls sized sweater!
Look at the Astra-Crochet Bolero on the Patons web site. It's close enough to work as is, or with some slight modifications.

"At this time we do not have the On the Lace Cardigan available in a girls sizing, sorry.
For all girls / child patterns check out our web site at:
http://www.bernat.com/search.php?psub=c&advps=y

We also have a number of patterns for girls on our Patons web site, they can be found at:
http://www.patonsyarns.com/search.php?psub=c&advps=y "
