This is my first time as well. I've been crocheting for about 6 months and am completely addicted! I'm really excited about this project. Since I'm a bit new to this I'll appreciate the help from all of you experienced crocheters. :notworthy:

I've never done one of these before. What exactly happens? Is a new pattern for a square posted each week? Or do they just give a few lines for the pattern?

How long does it last? Can we print the instructions, because I like to follow along with a highlighter or sticky note to keep my place.

What worries me though is that the Reference notes say that we will be doing several sections and then joining them. You all do NOT know how much I absolutely HATE joining (sigh). I might just do all the sections and stare at them for a year before I join them...

I was the same way before last year's CAL. But doing the project, with the encouragment of having a due date for the project, helped me finish this first afghan. Then since last years CAL, I have finished an afghan that I started several years ago and I am almost done with a third one. Actually completing a project all the way to the end, gave me the encouragement I needed to finish these other two UFOs afghans.

I used to hate joining also until I did the 2010 CAL and the method used for that is simple and looks great. I no longer dread joining!

Does anyone have a picture of last years? Just to get an idea of what we're working with? I didn't even know this existed till I found the link on pinterest. I was going to do a granny square blanket but I think I'll try this. February's so far away! Lol

Just post a message in a section of the forum that interests you. Then, when you come back to the forum, click one of the links at the top of the main page, to see "new posts", etc. You will also get email notification on posts you are following, unless you opt out of that.

Every mystery blanket Bernat has is a little different, to keep the mystery alive. Some weeks, you will be making a certain size motif, and other weeks, you will create a different part of the blanket. When all the pieces have been made, the "reveal" begins, when they show us how to put them together.

I'm not the expert here, but I think it will last until April. Jen or Kaleigh will tell you for sure tomorrow.

Certainly!
