MYSTERY AFGHAN AWARDS: Winners!

Congrats to all who finished their afghans and to the winners! I have mine sewn together and have one border done. Three more to go!

Fantastic outcomes and congrats to the Winners. You inspire me to learn more about crochet. Just got back from a 2-week vacation to Ireland (Dublin) and Germany. Saw family and friends and enjoyed walking all over with my husband. I came home with a case full of beautiful Wool and at home I had a big box of lavender Bernat Waverly waiting for me. No excuse not to keep making beautiful things!

Oh, and I agree with what others have said that next time there should be separate categories for knit and crochet. They really aren't the same and can't compete together.

The winners deserve all the praise they are getting. The afghans are beautiful. But, I know, here's the but part. I'm confused at why we even have a pattern to follow? At least in the contest, there should be a winner for the best afghan that is actually the mystery afghan that we worked on. Otherwise it's just who ever put together the prettiest afghan posted. This is my second year doing this, and I plan on continuing each year, but I am disappointed that Bernat posts this contest, gives us the "mystery" squares each week, and the lay out, and not a winner for one person that followed the pattern??? Am I the only one who feels this way?

Hi, Y'all,
I am really so surprised and excited to be nominated and voted for by many of my fellow yarnsters...the idea of winning in any category was beyond hoping for when I saw so many extremely beautiful and creative afghans. I was just so pleased to have finished mine in time to send in pictures. It is the first time I've joined anything since I was in 4H in elementary school (sometime in the '50s), so you can see I'm not much at "joining", mostly just a stealth watcher from the sidelines.
Anyway, Thanks to all of the Bernat team for their wonderful patterns and encouragement, and for the freedom to take our own paths to create our own personal products...the contest was just the added incentive I needed to get mine finished in time (by a thread ).
