Softee Baby things

Postby mittenmaker » Fri May 25, 2012 5:15 pm

Hi! These little baby items were made from Softee Baby in color "Chiffon," the hat is Softee Baby Knit Baby Hat, the booties (sans pom poms, I was afraid baby might try to pull them off) are Pom Pom Booties, both Bernat patterns. The little bear is from a Leisure Arts pattern book, "Oh So Easy Knits."
This is my first time I have made baby things; it is such a joy! :inlove: :cloud9:
The toque, booties and teddy bear are a gift for Mr. Jingles' groomer's baby, who is expected in July.

that teddy is completely adorable! Did you insert a couple bells in it so it would 'rattle' for baby? And you caught me by surprise when you wrote toque! Don't hear it being used too often any more these days. You do such lovely work

Hi karenarp and shandeh! Thank you for looking at my baby things, and for the nice compliments :D
I didn't think about putting bells in paws (I had a stuffed kitty that had them, when I was a little girl)--that is a nice idea!
I think the teddy is sweet--he was my first teddy bear. He was a little bit of trouble, but worth it--I have NEVER done any kind of embroidery before, so that was a big challenge for me! :? I had found a Bernat pattern for a bunny toy, and it gave instructions how to do French knot--which worked great for eyes and nose! :cloud9: I learned a lot from making this bear and hope to make more!
As for "toque" -- I love that word, and since I think I am a Canadian lady trapped in an American body, that's why I used the term. I think too, that is why I love Bernat so much--because of my inner Canadian! ;)

Oh, thank you karenarp! I appreciate you sweet words. I am sure your teddy was adorable. Honest!
I am going to make another little bear one of these days--I have some leftover brown yarn w/ flecks of beige, and some real wool Patons yarn, in a natural marl, which I used to make husband some warm, soft woolie mittens, last Christmas. The brown yarn and the real wool will make a nice bear, I should think. :) :knit:

This is the toque and mittens I have just finished making with Bernat Satin Sport. They are for a little guy who is just 3 weeks old . The colour is Marina and was the Mom's choice.

Love the toque and mittens, Ewezer! I haven't seen mittens on a cord in a long time! I like the dark blue color for baby, -- very cool! Nice work! :knit:

Thanks Mittenmaker. I have also come up with the idea of finding the centre of the cord pulling it together about an inch down and attaching a button at that spot. It can then be slipped through the loop that is usually attached to a coat, on the back, for hanging it up, pull the top of the cord through and then slip the top centre loop of the cord over the button. Years ago I always disliked the way the cord slipped down my back. This keeps it from doing that.

Wow Ewezer, that is a splendid idea!
Did you use the i-cord method to make your cord? (Such a fun technique!)
