What's for Dinner?

I'm glad you're feeling better Shandeh. There are some nasty bugs that just seem to knock you out for days and days. Hopefully you're improving and getting your energy back again! Nice to see the picture of you and your students too. I enjoy piano recitals, as long as I'm not playing :) I think that's very cute that one of the parents (?) didn't know you played piano. Perhaps it's not uncommon, but I have never met a piano teacher that didn't actually play.

Last night I made my hubby's favorite meal of meatloaf, rice and cream corn. I had mashed potatoes with my cream corn. And I'm delighted to say that tonight's meal will consist of leftovers . . . one of my favorite things in the world, yummy food, but with no work. I will probably cook some frozen perogies for my son though since he hates meatloaf.

I thought it was funny when that piano parent said that too. :) It just proves that I don't usually play when I'm teaching. I focus on what each student is working on, letting them be the star in their home. I don't want to outshine them in their territory, because they have to perform there every day. ;)

I don't mind meatloaf, but it's not my favorite. What are perogies?

That makes sense of not wanting to outshine your students in their territory. That's very considerate of you :) I was always in awe when my teachers would play for me. They usually only played when they were introducing a song to me so I could hear how it was supposed to sound.

Perogies are dumplings of unleavened dough – first boiled, then they are baked or fried usually in butter with onions – traditionally stuffed with potato filling, sauerkraut, ground meat, cheese, or fruit. Of central and eastern European provenance, they are usually semicircular, but are rectangular or triangular in some cuisines. I just found that on wikipedia I think it was.

I usually buy them frozen and just boil them and then fry them in a bit of butter. The ones I buy usually just have potato and cheese in them, but there are many varieties. After they are browned I eat them with sour cream. They are delicious and my son loves them as well. My husband prefers them cooked up with bits of bacon, mushroom and onion and while that's quite tasty, just plain perogy and sour cream are good enough for me.

It's interesting the differences in food on the site. I've never had corn bread and buttermilk and I was surprised you hadn't heard of perogies. I think perogies are polish or ukranian in origin, but I could be wrong. Meatloaf is not my favorite either, but it makes my hubby happy :)

Sounds a little bit like ravioli, which I love....

This is not dinner. It's not lunch either. It's BREAKFAST, AT THREE O'CLOCK IN THE AFTERNOON!!

Chicken Apple Sausage, zapped in the microwave, then dipped in honey mustard sauce.
I collect the little packs of sauce at Bojangle's whenever I get some of their Chicken Supremes. I don't use it for the chicken, but it's perfect for sausage dipping. :)

I'm also making some cinnamon rolls in the oven, so this is a feast.

The reason I'm having breakfast at 3 in the afternoon is because I had trouble sleeping last night. Was finally sawing a log at 6:30 this morning. :ire:

We have had some very warm evenings here in the South lately. One night, I just wanted to cool down with a plate of fruit. It was yummy.

My husband makes fun of me when I do that. I'm also notorious for tomato sandwiches (you know, bread, mayo tomato, sprinkle of salt) when it's hot. The hubby is truly a meat and potatoes kinda guy though and he just doesn't seem to get it. I believe I'll keep him though...he's really good at growing tomatoes!!!

Oh man, I LOVE me some "mater sammiches"! And it only tastes right with good ol' Dukes mayo. :) I could live off of those.

A couple days ago, I made some vegetable soup, by emptying cans of vegetables in a pot, pouring some chicken broth over it, then adding some spices. It was yummy, but was way more than I could eat alone.

So, today, I took the leftovers to my mom's house, and we shared the rest of it together. We also shared a rotisserie chicken. :inlove:

What's for dinner OMG, we celebrated our 31st wedding anniversary. and instead of going in a restaurant I decided that I would do the same menu we had for our wedding day. So here is the list. A note of warning: you might take a few pounds just reading it
Sparkling wine, thin pizza crust topped with pesto, prosciutto with melon, marinara fettuccini, cheeses with grapes, mushroom consommé, chef's salad, roastbeef porto sauce, with grilled veggies, tea, cake, and I'm not done yet, in a few hours we'll have pizza and chocolate profiterolle. so for the next few weeks I think I'll be on a diet
