Weight Loss Journeys

I am currently on a weight loss journey. Well, I actually have been on that journey for the past few years.

Are any of the rest of you trying to lose weight?

Don't get me started . . . I have lost and regained enough weight to populate a small town!

I have now reached that over 60 age when it is even harder to lose weight. I can manage to lose a little but I don't seem to be able to keep it off anymore. I got my best results with the Atkins Diet but as soon as I started adding back a few carbs it was over. My problem is that I like food, I mean I REALLY like food.

I am sitting here in my "boot" for a torn in-step tendon. That means I can't even do my favorite exercise - walking. I need a yarn project that will keep me busy and the mystery afghan is just the ticket.

I love going for walks too! But my knee is so painful, that I can't walk very far. :( I now use the Wii Fit Plus game, and go walking and bike riding virtually with a cute little dog in the game.

You made me giggle but also sigh in frustration with you! Over the last few years I have lost at least 50lbs and still weigh the same as I did when I started trying to lose weight

Something I recently realized I could do was to take a meander on the treadmill and crochet at the same time!! So I decided to only allow myself time to crochet when on the treadmill or at appointment with the kids. Now with the CAL I suddenly have this desire to walk on the treadmill every day.....I sure hope to see some weight-loss before the end of the CAL :)

I would love to motivate myself to lose weight, I just seem to keep coming up with excuses. Too tired, no time, lonely endeavor, etc. Trying to convince the hubby and kids to help my journey hasn't really helped. I keep telling myself, 1 lb a week = 52 lbs in a year, more than halfway to my desired weight. Maybe now that I put it out there publicly, will force me to try harder. Lots of luck to those of you who are trying!

If we lived near each other, I would go for walks with you!

Awe, thank you. That is so sweet! I love to walk. When I used to live in New York City, I walked everywhere. Now being out in the 'burbs of Long Island, NY, you need a car to get anywhere.

I actually went on a nice walk around the neighborhood yesterday with the hubby, no less. We started slow, just half hour, but it felt good. Hopefully, this is the start to a new regimen, now that he's expressed interest in losing weight.

We used to run daily, but life just got in the way. Now the boys are much older, 17 & 14, and are beginning to do more things away from the home, giving the 2 old fogies some time to get back to basics. Here's hoping

Have a great day!

You're so lucky to have a walking buddy! I think it helps to keep you motivated if someone walks with you.
