Blocks Curtain - need help modifying pattern

Postby karenarp » Tue Jun 19, 2012 4:44 pm

I am wanting to make this pattern http://www.bernat.com/pattern.php?PID=3079 but I don't want it this wide, I have different sized windows after all! So I need to know the maths on this one. How do I make it slimmer and longer? Can you figure out where the pattern repeats are? Unless I work a sample I can't figure it out myself. So in the great lazy quest I am hoping someone here knows enough about modifying patterns so I don't have to. :P Help!
The two windows I plan on making it for are my front door and the long narrow window next to it. My daughters cat destroyed my last curtains and I have yet to replace them. This pattern seems to fit the bill nicely, except it is the wrong size for me!

:hellogoodbye: karenarp, It looks to me like it would be an 11 chain or stitches per square. Maybe just try to chain the width of the window, and see how close you can come, adjusting to lose some of the squares. Then if to small , adding a wider border. Hope this helps?

whoot! Thank you!
That is exactly what I was looking for. On a good day I can usually do the maths myself but this time I was being extraordinarily lazy! I didn't even think to add a border to fix the sizing!
