What's for Dinner?

Sparkling wine, thin pizza crust topped with pesto, prosciutto with melon, marinara fettuccini, cheeses with grapes, mushroom consommé, chef's salad, roastbeef porto sauce, with grilled veggies, tea, cake, and I'm not done yet, in a few hours we'll have pizza and chocolate profiterolle. so for the next few weeks I think I'll be on a diet

Happy Anniversary!

Everyone's been so quiet lately! I'm sure it's because of this crazy summer weather. It has been RIDICULOUSLY hot in my part of the world. I'm just staying inside, and trying to stay cool. Drinking lots of water, eating ice cream and popsicles, making light meals. And I don't feel like making blankets....just knitting and crocheting small projects.

A couple nights ago, I made a big pot of spaghetti. Since it's just me here, I've been having that same dinner for the past 3 days.

My lunches are usually a simple sandwich - usually a plain tomato sandwich. One of my piano students has been sending 10 homegrown tomatoes home with me every week. And my mother gives me some too. SO, I have an OVERLOAD of tomatoes. :) I don't mind, because I really love tomato sandwiches.

One night this past week, I was busy knitting on a big charity blanket, when I became RAVENOUSLY hungry.

So, I whipped up a batch of grits, made some eggs over medium, and heated up some slices of ham in the frying pan. Then, I toasted and buttered some bread to complete my feast. I just love having breakfast for dinner. :inlove:

The ham, eggs, and toast look really good; but I just can't get into eating those grits!

Well, grits are no good, unless you stir in butter, salt, and pepper. Then, they are divine! Imagine popcorn without butter and salt - it would be very bland, right? Same thing

I found the cutest little slow cooker (2 quart) at the store the other day, and decided to buy it. Perfect for making a meal just for one or two. :) I couldn't find very many recipes online, though. So, I just made up a recipe of my own.

I had some sirloin beef cubes (for kabobs) which were already marinating in my fridge, so I put them in the crock pot, added some chopped potatoes, carrots, onions, and mushrooms, then topped it with a can of tomato soup, and a bottle of beer. After cooking all day, it was yummy!
