Discontinued Bernat Baby Cakes Patterns

Postby KatieRN » Fri Jun 29, 2012 9:10 pm

I have tons of this yarn, which I happen to absolutely love... but now that it is Discontinued it appears that I can no longer access the Free patterns on the Bernat Website.

Anyone know if they are available?

You need to check with Bernat Customer Support - inquire@bernat.com
They will let you know the answer to that.

Baby Cakes is a worsted weight yarn, so in the meantime, you can look for other patterns that work to the same gauge. (18 to 20 stitches = 4 inches)

Bernat recently removed all patterns that contained discontinued yarns.
I find this very sad as there were so many patterns I still wanted to try and had even found the back door into them - by typing the pattern number in the address bar.
I hope they return them to the site one day. It didn't matter to me that they were written in the old plain pdf style, they were still useful for those of us who had the old yarn.
Let us know if you get a reply from them about why they are gone or if there is a new way to access them.

This only happened in the last few months! I went looking for an awesome Cool Crochet purse pattern and it was gone! Tried using my bookmarks and turns out all my saved patterns were gone if they had old yarn. I had already made the purse a few times, but I always ended up losing the pattern after the fact.

I found a few free downloads at YarnMarket at
http://www.yarnmarket.com/knitting/Baby ... -1007.html but any worsted weight pattern should work.

You can also sometimes find the older Bernat patterns on the Michaels and/or JoAnns websites.

I'm new to this forum and was wondering if anyone knows of a video as to how to start with Ruffelina? I have tried and the directions just don't compute. ANy help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
PS: When I search under "Yarns" it doesn't come up? :hrmm: :hrmm:

Here is the Bernat Ruffelina Yarn page:

Hi Shandeh, is there a video or instructions for using Ruffelina Yarn for crochet?

I don't see anything on the Bernat site for crocheting with Ruffelina.
But, I have found crochet videos on YouTube for other brands of ribbon yarns.

Ruffelina Scarf Crocheted

Postby CastingOffTheColdOshawa » Sun Sep 16, 2012 12:48 pm

Just received a ball of Rufflina yarn for my birthday with a Bernat crochet pattern to make a ruffle scarf. Stated to be "easy" I, for the life of me, can not figure out how to start the scarf. It doesn't say to make any chains, just to insert hook from front to back into first space, counts as first ch. place marker.
What does the hook grab onto? Do I knot the hook with the yarn first? How do I draw up a loop?
I've even tried to find this online and it is only showing for knitting. I don't knit. And what is a marker and why do I need it? Can anyone help?

I have made mittens with the Bernat felting yarn. I omitted the cuff when I started, then felted it,which it does beautifully. After it was felted I picked up stitches at the base of the mitt using a worsted weight yarn and then ribbed a cuff. I did have to use a crochet hook to pull the worsted yarn through the felting. They turned out great and were a gift for my niece.
