Thank you everyone, this is a lovely blanket. Today it will be finished!!! I just have to cast off. There have been days when I have walked in the house to find one of my children's friends curled up on the couch under the blanket, with needles attached! I kinda want to keep it for myself! I'll have to make another one.

Now to make that cardigan, Liliabab, I am going to see how much I can get done in two weeks. If I'm half way there, I'll be a speedy crocheter like you! :knit:

How funny that people were using your unfinished blankeet! I'm glad it didn't fall off the needles

I like this pattern: http://www.bernat.com/pattern.php?PID=2321
I am trying to choose a pattern that will be quick to make and modern and generic enough for a young couple to throw over the back of their couch, pass the test of time, and hopefully they will like it! Making the initial decision is the hardest part for me :idonno: That's why the mystery KALs and CALs were so good for me!

Just went looking for this pattern and it seems to be missing. Anyone know where it went or if I can get the pattern from somewhere else?

Hey Lacey, if you go on page 3 of this forum, Zhanie posted a link to Michaels who has the pattern ;)

Thanks for posting that, zhanie! That's exactly why it's not on our site - Bernat Softee Chunky has changed, so none of the older patterns work (they'll turn out REALLY BIG).

If the new Bernat Softee Chunky won't work then will any of Bernat's other yarns work? What other yarn would you suggest to use to make this?

There are two other Bernat yarns that knit to the same gauge, but they act a little differently from Softee Chunky.

Bernat Alpaca is warmer and heavier than Softee Chunky.
Bernat Baby Coordinates Chunky is lighter and only has baby colors.

Thanks Shandeh. Do you know how much of a size difference is there between the old Softee Chunky and the new version?

Quite a bit. The old version was chunky, and the new version is bulky.

Old version knits to 15 sts per 4 inches
New version knits to 11 sts per 4 inches
