I have a question that I can't see already asked here...my stash is so overflowing that I have promised not to purchase anymore yarn (unless I absolutely have to in order to finish something started) in an effort to reduce the number of bins and closets taken over....can I use from my stash or does it have to be Waverly? If I can use from my stash, what is the guage?....thanks, looking forward to another mystery work along...did both the knitted and crocheted before and love the finished product!

Here's the full pattern for the 2010 Crochet-Along

Hope you enjoy!

Oh, I love the Softee Chunky! And my local hardware store sells it. Yay! Something to do while I'm waiting for this year's to start...

Great question! Jen and Kaleigh will let us know the answer to that tomorrow, I bet.

Waverly is a medium weight yarn.
You can see more details about it here:

Is this year's blanket similar to the crocheted one last time, or would you say it's entirely different?

It is COMPLETELY different from the 2010 CAL.

Same with the knitted blanket. It looks nothing like the one we made in 2009.

I can't wait! Thank you so much for your quick reponses and your presence in this forum. I have been reading all the posts and I think I HAVE to do the knit a long too! I also noticed when I went to bernat that there are two stores that are very close to where I live that sell bernat so I am going to buy the yarn for the kal as I go. I have already ordered the cal wool. I live in Aldergrove B.C. Canada.

You're welcome! I'm a night owl, so I'll be the after-hours presence in here, while the rest of the Bernat peeps are resting. I don't know why I can't sleep at night. It's just weird! But, it's lucky for Bernat that I am a night person.

I'm making both blankets also!
And like you, I haven't seen any of the clues yet. My yarn has been ordered for both blankets, so I'm peeking out the window every day, to see if my package has arrived. :)

Good luck with your yarn purchases!

Love knitting, but not so crazy about the finishing work. How much of this will involve piecing together, sewing seams, etc? (That 2009 afghan is pretty, but it would probably still be sitting here, unfinished, waiting to be sewn...)

You'll have to come back here each week for the clues. We will be doing updates on our progress on the Bernat Blog occasionally, and also in our email newsletters, but to get the clue right away you'll need to come here. It's every Wednesday at 10am EST starting February 15th. Put it on your calendar if you're afraid you'll forget!
