2009 Mystery KAL Blanket

Postby dogfoster » Thu May 03, 2012 1:43 pm

Was wondering if anyone did this? Trying to figure out how big the squares are supposed to be. It just says pin to measurements. I have skewered my way thru one square and it is wider than 8 " long. So either my tension is way off, which it probably is, or they are not supposed to be square. In general, when you sew knitted things like this together do they stretch more one way that the other? Also, for the selvages, some squares alternate knit and purl,
others are all knit. Is one kind of selvage easier to seam together than the other? Thanks.

Cool! I did not participate in that KAL, so I can't help out. I'm so glad that we can still access those discussions in the Bernat Blog, though. :)

Hi everyone. I will be joining you with the 2009 KAL project in a few weeks. Just got the Satin yarn and am anxious to get started but promised myself I would get some Christmas gifts completed first. Some cooler weather would help.....hard to knit scarves when it is 90 plus degrees outside.

I just finished this KAL about a week ago. I enjoyed learning all of the new stitches, and especially bobbles and cables! My only issue was with the clue 3 squares turning out much wider than the rest, which was a bit of a pain when it came to seaming.
In the interest of preventing spoilers, you can see my blanket here.
Wanting some summery colours, I went with Lagoon, Maitai and Banana... which looked nice together in my head, was somewhat scary in the making, but turned out pretty well in the end. :D

So it took a while to get back to this project but here I am. Have just started completed the first of Block 3 squares and notice ( as in the blogs) it is wider too but the yarn is quite forgiving so will wait until I am all done to see how it looks. I am really enjoying this KAL.....interesting patterns and with only 3 of the same it doesn't get boring . Love the bernat satin yarn as well. :cloud9:
Anyone out there working on this now?? :hellogoodbye:

I've never tried the 2009 blanket. Lots of interesting stitch designs there!
