My daughter is expecting her first baby in January and is not planning on finding out if the baby is a girl or boy. So . . . I will be making two--one pink and one blue.

Just dig in, and get started!
For me, the first 5 rows were the most difficult, because it was hard to see where everything would be falling in line. But, after that, I was able to use some stitch markers, which made it MUCH easier to continue working.

I will make a video tonight, showing how to do the foundation row.

I started mine yesterday and I am on row 7. I did the crochet cast on. So far everything is working out great. Not having any trouble. The stitch markers really help keep you in place. Shandeh I love all the little tips you give us, they really help.

Was wondering if someone could help with suggestions to modify the pattern somewhat so that the bottom could be secured closed, but not stitched close, to make it easier to get the baby in and out of the sac.
For example, if I chose to add a zipper at the bottom, would I just begin with the 118 stitch count? Would it be easier to sew a zipper to a few rows of stockinette or is it possible to sew it to the moss stitch. I guess another option would be to make a row of eyelets and thread through some cording for a drawstring though it would throw off the pattern of the cables?

Another option would be to pick up stitches on the front half, when sack is finished, work 3 or 4 rows in ribbing, work a row of evenly spaced botton holes, rib 3 or 4 more rows. Cast off. Fold to back. Attach buttons to the back, matching up the button holes. Alternately reverse picking up stitches on the back half and folding to front

Whoa! That's a travelin' yarn! Maybe it will have some stories to tell, when it arrives. By the way, it looks like it's in Illinois instead of Iowa. Or do I have my geography wrong? (History, Geography, and Social Studies have always been my weaknesses.)
