Like Laina, I had multiple thoughts about seaming pieces together which is just what I will be doing starting later today--42 octogons, 30 popcorn squares, and 22 triangles--must be out of my mind!!!!!

I did finish painting my kitchen and am including a pic of my new oven door. Thanks for asking Shendah, I did not get hurt but the glass cleanup was a horrible job. Since the stove is about 25 years old, we decided to not replace the glass. I think what I did to the door really brightens up my kitchen.

Hey there! It's good to see you again too.

I feel your pain!!! I decided from now on I'm doing all the weaving in as I go along. I think that's the most discouraging part of motif blankets. What will be the dimensions of the blanket? It is so beautiful and I love the colors.

I think I'm going to do half octagons with both blankets.

Sorry to read about your garden. Mine is awful this year too. So discouraging. All that expense and water. So sad. And so sorry to hear about your kitchen escapade and like Sandy, good to hear you weren't hurt. And I love the new front on the oven door. What a clever idea! :-)

Hugs,
Laina :-)

it's great having you all here, to make blankets with me. :D

I'm finishing up two large charity blankets, which were worked on by several knitting friends in the Knitting Help Forum. As soon as I cast those off, I need to make some progress on a blanket for my son. THEN, I need to finish up my Waverly Mystery blanket. I'm so overloaded with blankets in progress. It's just ridiculous.

Thanks, Shandeh! I hope I do not have too much pink in it--will see when it is finished, if I ever finish the sewing--have done around two of the outside edges so far. I would get farther faster if my hands did not keep falling asleep--too much gardening work has really stressed the nerves! Guess that means more crocheting and less yard work for a while!!!

And I want a foxy oven door too!!
Now, you can say that your oven is hot and foxy!

Good one!!!!!! I will be sure to use that one. It does brighten up my kitchen and I like it lots better than the plain glass that was in there before!

Hope you have a super weekend!!!

That oven door is so smart (sly?) :D
It would be a big improvement in my kitchen, if I got one like that. I never use the window on my oven, because it's too dark to see through. Ha! I am the world's worst housecleaner.

You would not want to see inside my oven and it is self-cleaning--too bad it can't turn itself on to clean!

I have always done the end-weaving as I go--can't face so much mess at the end. Now I only have to weave in the sewing ends and I am making it like a jigsaw puzzle so I "maze" my way around to have fewer ends. I am glad you like the colors--can't wait to see it on our bed. I may have to wait until cooler weather to finish the border. I think I forgot to mention that it is king-size! I have almost finished seaming all the outside areas that include the triangles; I will begin working on the middle very soon!

I think I'm going to do half octagons with both blankets.

That should be very interesting--send pics when you get them!!!

Sorry to hear about your garden also. We have some friends who told us we planted on the wrong side of the moon so, just to cover all bases, I am going to buy an almanac if we decide to plant veggies next year. I got really lucky with the fall from the ladder--could have injured either or both of my artifical hips!!! As it was, the damage was all to the oven door and my pride!!! I like the oven door more every time I go into the kitchen--it is a major improvement!!!!

Thanks, but you might want to wait until I finish my next project--our sunroom with a vaulted ceiling needs painting and I don't trust commercial painters to do it the way I want it done. I have a friend who is willing to loan me a 10 ft. stepladder. Now if I can just overcome my fear of heights, I might actually get it done. My DH lets me climb a ladder with fake hips but he won't let me ride horseback anymore--bummer!!!!

I went to the attic a couple of days ago and found the granny square afghan I started about 15 years ago. Since I don't work on seaming the king-size blanket during the evening, I AM GOING TO FINISH the granny square one. When I started it, I loved deep colors--red, yellow, blue, green, orange, and purple. My taste has changed and I now think those colors are too dark but I am not about to rip out all the completed squares so...... The plan is to do what Laina did with her CAL only I am not going to do vines and flowers, just overstitch some of the darker colors with a lighter shade of the same color--will let you know how this goes as soon as I find out how it looks.

Whoa! I have a feeling that we will need to have more than just a medal for you. I'll get to work on the presentation platform, and start rehearsing the orchestra.
