wrong chain count in the beginning
ran out of yarn
new yarn feels funny
cannot upload a photo "file too big"

Golly! I'm sorry things didn't work out for your vest! :(
I can offer advice on the photo. Just use a free online photo resizer.

I have been following this CAL for the Flutter Sleeve Vest and have enjoyed your videos. I am wondering, though, if the side cluster (directions for row 1 of the body) should be done a bit differently. The way I read it and have tried it is to do the 2nd part of the side cluster by putting the hook back into the 3rd chain the same as you did for the first one --- and then yo, draw up a loop, yo and pull through 2 loops then yo and pull through all 3. From what I can see and what you say in the video it looks like you are putting the hook back into the base stitch (and under both loops of that stitch) of the last double crochet. Am I mis-reading the part about hook into the 3rd chain or am I misunderstanding your video  I have been crocheting for many years and I have found this pattern to be confusing and poorly written. Of course I am doing the 18 month size and that has had its issues with an error right in the first row. I do very much like the little vest and am rolling along happily now. Next time around I would expect to have one finished in a matter of a few hours. :)

Hi Carolann!
Welcome to the Bernat Forum. :)

I will check with Bernat headquarters, to see what the pattern designer recommends. I have only been crocheting a few years, and so far have only followed Bernat designs. So, I could be mistaken with my interpretation.

I will let you know!

Hi, Shandeh! Thanks for the warm welcome to the Forum. :hellogoodbye: I have become fascinated with this CAL --- having found it by accident when looking for any pattern error corrections. I forgot to mention in my last post that I think Row 2 of the Body section might be a bit wonky  I worked and re-worked that row and it wasn't coming out right. I was coming up short for the total number of stitches / clusters and the edges seemed to be pulling and angling too much. Where it says in row 2 to " chain 1, miss the next side cluster" I think they left out to do a 3 DC in the top of the DC 3tog that lays between the beginning of row 2 and the first side cluster. (that DC3tog would of course be the last one at the end of the previous row). I am working on the size 18 mo and the only way for my cluster / stitch count to come out correctly---and have the fabric lay properly --- is to do what I just stated. Maybe I misread something and made an error myself, or missed a new pattern correction, but mine has turned out exactly right and looks just like the picture on the pattern (although it is a very poor quality photo for clarity and detail). Who knows, maybe all of my frustration with this cute and easy little pattern is "just me"! :idonno:

Bernat made a correction for this pattern about a week ago, so you might want to download the pattern again, and compare it to yours. That might explain why your stitch count came out wonky.

About Row 2, the pattern is correct. The edge is different from the rest of the row.

I didn't really get on board with this CAL at the same time as the rest of you but here is what I did with the little vest. I have lots of Bernat yarn but no Giggles and nothing in the color(s) I wanted so I used a comparable WW cotton yarn. I did the button band but decided I didn't care for the look of it so I replaced it with a single row of single crochet on each edge of the yoke only. I mostly prefer button loops so I did that instead of the buttonhole.

Hello again, Carolann!

I checked with Bernat Customer Support, and they told me that you are correct about the side cluster!

They are currently working on re-wording the pattern, so it will be easier to interpret.

I will post a new video soon, showing the correction as well.

Luckily, the "wrong" way still looks good. I've made two of these as baby shower gifts, and they were well received. But, I am looking forward to seeing one made the RIGHT way in my house. :D

Thanks for checking on that. ;)
