I usually look at the yardage in the instructions to determine how many skeins of each color I might need or better yet... the pattern tells me 4 skeins of white etc. I am not sure about this pattern. It calls for 13 oz. of white, 12 oz of navy and so on. How do I determine this? If I am looking at a yarn that is 3.5 oz do I just divide into the 13? (4 skeins) If the yarn is 5 oz... again do I just divide into the 13 oz? ( 3 skeins). I thought the "oz." was just the weight of the yarn..(thicker yarns would be heavier but not necessarily more yardage. I just don't want to order a yarn from Bernat and then not have enough or worse too much. Any input would be appreciated.

mary2424 wrote:thanks for the reply Shandeh... the pattern only calls for a 4 ply yarn...( 13 oz of this and 12 oz of that etc) . nothing else is suggested... as I said the pattern is from 1996 (I know this because it is mentioned at the bottom of the page of the pattern which was a reprint from a magazine). This is all I know...
