Design Your Own Scarf!

Postby Shandeh » Fri Sep 14, 2012 1:32 am

You may have already noticed our "Design Your Own Blanket" discussion. Some of us are using Bernat's Stitch Gallery to make a blanket.

Well, I know that some of you don't have the time you need to knit or crochet an entire blanket.
So, let's have some fun designing our own SCARF instead!

This won't take long at ALL, and we'll be able to wear our beautiful designs this Fall and Winter. :)

I'm planning on using some of Bernat's Vickie Howell Sheep(ish) yarn in the color Lime(ish)

I'm thinking that the "Brioche Rib" knitted design will look nice in this yarn.

If I decide that I'm not happy with that yarn/design combination, I think I'll try a Crochet Stitch instead. Maybe I'll make some Wagon Wheels, and hook them together....maybe adding a crochet border when it's done.

:knit: I going to try the Eyelet Hearts. Using the Bernat Baby Sport Yarn in white. I like very soft and light weight things. We don't get very cold weather here, but I love scarves.

:hellogoodbye: pawpawtrys2 wants to try the Simple Slip Stitch using the Bernat Satin Sport in Rouge.

That lime green is certainly a happy, bright color, isn't it! :cooldude:

I tried making the "Brioche Rib" stitch, and decided that it wasn't for me. I kept getting lost, because I couldn't "read" the stitches from the row before. I knew that I would make a royal mess of that design, so I'm gonna try crocheting the "Wagon Wheel" now, and see how it goes.

:knit: I'm working on the Hearts and so far everything is working out right. I decided to stop half way and start a new one. I want the hearts to be laying in the right directions on both sides. Now that you taught me the kitchener stitch, I can put them together and that should work out perfectly.

The limish color is very pretty and the Wagon Wheel looks like fun. I hope that one works better for you. I can't wait to see it.

:hellogoodbye: I finished my Eyelet Hearts Scarf. I :inlove: the way it turned out. This was a very easy and fun pattern. The kitchener stitch work perfectly. I added 10 rows in stocking stitch on each side for the neck part and just joined them together to make the hearts on both sides coming down look right.

Thanks Shandeh. I can only knit because of you. You have been my inspiration. I have seen all the beautiful things you've made and I can't help myself. I just had to learn to knit and with all your help and great videos, it worked. I am finally thinking I can knit. Every time I finish a project I think of you. That without all your help, I would never have been able to do it. I can't THANK YOU enough. You are a true GIFT and BLESSING.
