Bernat Pattern in Book # 530198--Hat Pattern

Postby figgalily » Thu Sep 27, 2012 10:44 pm

Knitting with Bernat Softee Chunky and the pattern begins by casting on 79 stitches and uses an increase technique abbreviated Tw2R. Can someone please tell me what this is? I am completely clueless having never seen this abbreviation before in my life and I can't figure it out.
Tw2R: knit into front of 2nd stitch on left-hand needle without slipping stitch off needle, then knit into front of first stitch and slip both stitches off needle together.
I tried this and it was altogether confusing because I could not feasibly see how this could be one. So please HELP!!!!

Tw2R is just that, if you knit them as instructed, the two stitches will look twisted, sort of like mini, mini cable. But it is not an increase. Maybe that is what is confusing to you.

I haven't tried that stitch myself, but I will try to make a video tonight, after I figure it out.

:hellogoodbye: figgalily, I just found instructions for the Tw2R. They're several ways to do this stitch, my book said for the best results try: 1. Work to where the twist is required. Insert the right needle knitwise through the next 2 sts. (as if to k2tog), draw through a loop in the usual way. without slipping the sts off the needle. 2. Knit the first st again in the usual way. 3. Allow both sts to drop from the left needle.

Shandeh makes great video's. I can't wait to see how she does it. I have never used this stitch, but when someone has trouble, I like to see if I can find it :reading: and try to do it myself. There is also a Tw2L. to make it twist to the Left.

Hope is will help.

I made the video, then tried uploading it last night to YouTube. My silly computer timed out, and turned off, before it finished uploading. So, I'm trying to upload it again now.

:hellogoodbye: WE watched the video last night and WE had to try it. My book said they're were several ways to make the stitch, but it only gave one. I like the one you did. pawpawtrys2 was all into :knit: knitting this weekend. He just finished a scarf and can't wait to post it. He's so proud of himself, he's singing too.
