:reading: Shandeh, with the short rows, I was reading and they use a Short Row Shaping. Is this to prevent a small hole where you turn? :?: Since I'm new to knitting I read everything I can.

I check the forums every few weeks to see if there is a KAL/CAL that I could join and this is the first one that I have been able to join since the dishcloth CAL (which caused me to completely change to dishcloths and stop buying sponges - I LOVE pulling out a clean dishcloth and remembering that I made it).

I am going to buy my yarn tonight for this KAL as I have been wanting to make a shawl (I even made a couple of shawl pins but don't have any shawls). I really like the Mosiac yarn and this looks like a nice warm shawl for me to use.

I am not a bit surprised to see your finished shawl. You are such fast knitter! And your shawl is absolutely beautiful!

I've seen short row shaping in all sorts of designs. Knitting designers have their reasons for using them, but I've never really thought about it much. You are an observant, intelligent person.

I read somewhere that short row knitting enables shaping for ruffles.

And that is what is happening here :)

Isn't it neat how knitting designers just use different stitches to shape garments? I think they are so smart and creative.

I'm following this thread. The shawl is lovely! I love the bright blue one! My shoulder is only getting worse but I have an appt. to see an orthopedic surgeon in Jan. I won't even blame crochet or knitting for this anymore. It got worse when I took a break, so.... The good news is I'll do a bit of slow knitting now and then while I wait for my appointment. :)

:hellogoodbye: So sorry to hear about your shoulder. I was wondering what happened to you. I finally started the Chunky Aran Cable Blanket. When I saw yours, I knew I had to do one. Yours turned out so beautiful. I just finished the 1st cable, so I have a long way to go. Hope everything works out and your not in too much pain. My prayers will be with you.
