How to read a pattern

Postby Stephapou » Tue Oct 09, 2012 10:11 pm

The title say it all. :helpme:

I would like to crochet this pattern http://www.bernat.com/pattern.php?PID=2301. But I don't understand how to read the pattern.

For exemple, how should I read that line : Ch 3 (counts as dc). [3 dc. (Ch 2. 4 dc) 3 times] in ring. Ch 2. Join with sl st to top of ch 3. ?

- How chose we read things between ( ) or [ ] ?

Thanks for your help and sorry I'm not to fluent in english.

Hello! Reading crochet patterns takes a lot of patience and concentration. It's even difficult for those of us who only speak English!

In this part of the baby blanket pattern, everything inside the brackets "[ ]" will be done into the ring. Everything in the parentheses "( )" will be worked 3 times.

So, you will chain 3, do 3 double crochets in the ring, then you will keep working in the ring, doing 2 chains, 4 DCs, 2 chains, 4 DCs, 2 chains, 4 DCs. Then you will do 2 more chains, and connect it to the top of the 3 chains you started with, by working a slip stitch.
