Peacock Feathers!

I am in love with this super easy pattern!
Started last night and am already done my first ball of yarn. Got close to 4 repeats. I nearly forgot how scrumptious the Waverly yarn was, been working on other crochet projects, including a baby blanket a neighbour asked me to make her grand baby, so I haven' been near this yarn in awhile. Yum! This is the perfect time of year to start working on full size afghans around here, we don't turn our furnace on till the end of the month (if we can stand it) so as the afghan grows I get to stay warmer!

Anyone else working on this newest Waverly pattern from Bernat?

I am using Beautiful Blue from PP. I had cleared out many different Zellers here as they closed down and that was the only colour I happened to have the most of, only 7, so I will need to get 2 more balls, but that shouldn't be too hard since Mary Maxim and Spinrite sell them. I figure if I use the 2 on the border any colour changes will be hardly visible/noticeable.

I did take photos of my work with the first ball done. Just need to load them to my computer first!

OK, I have amazing news! My hubby stopped at Mary Maxim on his way by from work today and bought me the missing two balls and the Addi hook 5.5. The balls are the exact same lot number from Zellers from months ago! OMG! How cool is that!

And the Addi hook is saving my poor hand. I hold the knife way and I never got the Clover hook in this size (if I did I lost it) so I was using a plain Boye hook and that thing is just the wrong size for my hand, I swear it was going to dig a hole where it kept rubbing. I have now done 3 rows with the Addi since he came home and what a huge relief it has been! It will take a bit of time for my hand to recover from using Boye, but Addi will help! Dinner has stopped my progress for now. I will update photos as soon as I have them.

that is so on my list to do after I get through Xmas stuff. I have been repeating myself that I am not making blankets/afghans for everyone after this year, but doing small stuff and then maybe choosing a different person each year to do a bigger blanket on. I guess time will tell to since we just got a new puppy and how much time he monopolizes lol

Progress so far. I had hoped to do one ball a day, but I fell behind cuz of the baby blanket I was nearly done doing. There is nothing boring about this pattern. I am now a third of the way done. 9 balls, worked 3, on the fourth now.

One of the photos shows a close up of my work along with one half of the Russian join I use to connect 2 balls as well as a view of the two hooks I used. The gold one is Boye and the end of it was what was giving me a hard time and rubbed the wrong spot on my hand. I love my Addi Swing, I can hold it for longer periods, and if for some reason I get bored of working with it (which we all know can happen to the best of us) I can hold it with just 2 fingers and still do perfect stitches.

PS: The baby blanket has been delivered to my very happy neighbour!

:hellogoodbye: WOW, karenarp, your blanket is coming out beautiful. I'll have to check that pattern one out. I love the color you chose, it shows the stitches much better.

Finished this last night during a heart to heart with my daughter. She doesn't like my colour choice but she loved the design!

For the border I used the Mermaid Tears purse border. Took me a little while to figure out the corners still not perfectly happy but no way am I pulling it out. I also recommend using a slightly larger hook to do the border, I am going to have to do some blocking to get it to lie flat. The look is totally awesome though!

From start to finish it took me 12 days!
