Larksfoot Blanket

Postby karenarp » Sun Oct 21, 2012 11:06 pm

I started this afghan tonight using Past Perfect colour pallet. I had bought it on sale and happened to have enough balls in the required numbers! So even though this would never have been my first choice it is my cheapest choice at the moment and as I work it higher I am loving it more and more!

This photo makes me think of elephants.
The entire afghan design makes me think of saw teeth from those giant two man saws for chopping down trees.

Looks great!

I find it interesting that colours I never would have put together, turn out to look so beautiful together.

I finished this last weekend but kept forgetting to take a photo! I love how the colurs work together! I cannot say this enough, thank you Bernat for creating a yarn line where you match up the colours for me in ways I never would. I thought that green (Celadon) was far too bright and just wrong, but when paired in with these other colours it works so darned well together! I had just enough green left over to add a two row sc border around. I feel that gives it a more completed look and hid my ugly ends in much neater!

I also did not do what the pattern asked for finishing. Was supposed to do one more larksfoot row of the green, but since I knew I was going to add the border I skipped it. I think it gives it a more polished look and less bulky at the top.

Waverly Past Perfect Colour/balls used

Celadon 4
Fresh Flower 2
Mauve Glow 2
Breath of Blue 2
Blue Gown 2

Your blanket turned out beautiful. I agree with you the border gave it a nice finishing touch.
