What Do You Carry in Your Knit/Crochet Bag?

Postby Shandeh » Mon Nov 19, 2012 5:49 am

The other day, someone asked me what I carry in my knitting tote, which is always stuck inside any project I carry with me. What do you carry in your bag?

Here's a little video I made, where I discuss all the things I carry in my knitting bag:

I use an inexpensive clear zippered pencil case for my gadgets (and I love gadgets!) Small scissors, point protectors, stitch markers (a small round Pastillines tin is home to more stitch markers, and my yarn needles.) Also cable needles, retractable tape measure, row counter, needle size/stitch gauge measuring tool; ink pen, highlighter and an emery board. I keep a second clear pencil case in my big 3-ring binder of patterns, stitches, instructions, etc. It contains more smalls, including my calculator and stitch holders. :knit:
I love bags and and have several I like to use. One is a clear compartmentalized zippered knitting bag, given to me last Christmas by a non-knitter friend. It has grommets on top, for yarn to feed through.
I love compartments, the more the better. :geek:

I stuff a variety of yarn colors in my bag, I don't take a started project with me, because I am usually in the waiting room of a doctors office when I take it.
A set of crochet hooks, small scissors, a paperclip or safety pin for a row marker and milk. Sometimes a stitch pattern book if I want to practice new patterns. Yes the milk sounds odd, but I have low blood sugar :)

I was wondering what the milk was for. I thought you had some trick to use it with yarn issues, or something. :D

I agree with you, babyhatter--I don't like to take a project in with me to doctor's office, for fear of bringing home any kind of germs on my project (I confess I'm a germophobe, anyway.)

Gosh, I ALWAYS knit at the doctor's office. I figure the germs will wash out.

Well, I have knitted while waiting for husband to have outpatient kidney stone procedures, and also when my mom was in CCU I worked on a scarf for my great-niece. I guess it's no worse than knitting when we're home with the sniffles! (Again, I am an admitted cootie-phobe!) :o
