Bold Strips

Postby craftycanuck » Wed Jan 02, 2013 7:47 pm

I am thinking about making Satin - Bold Stripes Lapghan (knit)

http://www.bernat.com/pattern.php?PID=7237

I am going to use Bernat Camouflage and Bernat SuperValue instead of the Satin. My question is this. I want to take it from a Lapghan to a full size afghan for my son's bed. How do I go about doing that?

Thanks!

Just measure how wide you want the blanket to be. Next, figure out how many stitches per inch you get with the yarn and needles. Then multiply that number with the number of inches you want the blanket to be. This will be the approximate number of stitches you need to cast on. Then just work the pattern until it is long enough.

Thanks! I increased the stitches to 220.

I am going to Michael's today to pick up the yarn to co-ordinate with the Bernat Camoflauge Renegade. I am thinking greens and browns with black being the A

I bet that blanket will look GREAT in a guy's room. He will probably use that blanket forever now.

I decided on

MC - Bernat Camoflauge - Renegade
A - Supervalue - Black
B - Supervalue - Deep Sea green
C - Waverly - Antique
D - Waverly - Greek Sea

That is my Hope Shandeh. My son is 10 and I want the afghan to be used for a long time :)

I finished this blanket back in March and forgot to give an update. It worked out beautifully. I think there was a problem in the patttern with the repeats but I figured out what was suppose to happen based on the picture. My son was so happy when I finished his afghan :) I will try to post a picture in the next few days.

I know have to make two more afghans for my older boys. They want blankets made out of the Waverly because it is so soft :)
